[...] This from IA CEO Matt Towery: “What sticks out in this survey to me is the fact that Norwood does well with men while Reed does better with women. A closer examination explains this: African American men are the least likely to vote, based on our analysis, and African American females are one of the demographics most likely to vote.” [...]

Kasim Reed talks out two sides of his face. I met him at inauguration, where he was rude, self righteous, caused an embarrassing scene. I 'met' him at a meet & greet, where he ignored my female friend and I to go slap backs with some old white guys. His plans and policies aren't even logical; he's banking on the same insider network of corruption that's gotten Atlanta into trouble in the first place. Norwood isn't perfect, but I'll take someone who's more concerned with fixing our city than giving favors to his friends and seeing his name in print. Kasim Reed is just awful, and this comes from a local/national democratic political activist. He wants to raise the vesting period for pensions for city workers to 15 years. And you think he wants to 'help' the poor of Atlanta? The city employees? Think again, fellow Atlantans. This guy is all about power, and nothing more.

Montrell, Atlanta is made up of more than blacks... blacks are hardly a minority community but it coasts on this to the table.

What is so patently clear is that people like you are so imbued with the spirit of exceptionalism....and entitlement....that you would dismiss those others around you...as without worth.

We pay the taxes and we do the service. And we are hard working people. What about you?

Perhaps if whites, hispanics, asians (those others you forget exist and vote) were to return the favor....where would black people in Atlanta be now?

And frankly, because of the sentiment that we have been forced to swallow for so many years....frankly, we don't give a damn anymore.

Vote for Mary Norwood. The ONLY candidate that isn't in the deep pocket of the Black crooks of Atlanta. Those crooks who have been leaching $$$ from ALL of us for 36 plus years.

Kasim Reed is the best candidate for the minority community in Atlanta---norwood will do nothing to help us get more money from the state. Kasim will win this election easily---bank on it.

You have never said anything that made sense. Basically you are suggesting that because Mary has been at your community meetings that you are supporting her, which is your prerogative. All i've been conveying on these comment threads is, that will all Norwood's attendance records she has little to show for it. Again I understand the importance of having present and accounted for leadership but, my friend, attendance won't solve the city's issues - that's gonna take a strong leader. If the city council meets twice monthly and Norwood has been on council for 8 years, that means she possibly attended 192 city council meetings. Of all these meetings attended Mary Norwood stood at the forefront of very few successful legislative initiatives. Bottom line is, Mary Norwood has a very thin record in the city of Atlanta and for those you have let her "ATTENDANCE" at meetings suffice, that's on you but there are a whole lot of us out there that aren't going to let this slide. That's why Reed now has 49% of the vote and hasn't stopped climbing since he entered the race.

@P.O: First, you DON"T HAVE TO SHOUT!!!!

Your handle, whatever it is, will come to readers here loud and clear. I think you really like the attention because you certainly have been shilling for your man.

Secondly, IF I didn't know Mary (and I do) everything here written by (well padded) Reed supporters, staff, and those extremely illiterate posters in Reed's camp...

....would make me look at Proud Mary a second time.

You all can say what you want about Mary, and you will....but she's been in my SW Atlanta neighborhood WAY before she was running for mayor. Years before.

Reed? Never heard of the man...or saw him....until he decided to run for mayor, and that was only one time. And he was a stuffed potato head at the meeting. He was bored, uninterested in what we presented to him, and looked like he just wanted to get away from the public meeting. Perhaps we were too pale for his comfort?

What a boob. What an arrogant fellow. He seemed very uncomfortable because he didn't have any advisers around him whispering in his ear about 'answers'.

Mary at least can think on her little feet. Reed? Yeah, right.

Deborah, save me a booth at Manuels on Dec. 1st. Win or lose, Mary will not sink into obscurity. She has shaken up the landscape and there is hope out there.

Perhaps the Machine has some fuel left, but there are engine cracks now, too.

When you write the rules Jackson friends and family always win…

The legal dispute began in 2002 when the city awarded the contract to Clear Channel Airports of Georgia and its minority partner, Barbara Fouch, a close friend of the late Mayor Maynard Jackson

@Deborah and Matt

You can continue to try and paint Reed supporters as staffers, but it does nothing for your candidate. It certainly doesn't change the fact that Reed has risen like a "Phoenix" from 9 points to 49 points in just over three months. If your candidate was as stron a leader as y'all want everyone to believe, she would've closed the deal when the field was full.

Don't be mad because I speak intelligently about my candidate and yours. Believe it or not, I've probably interacted with Mary Norwood more than both of you.
