A last shoe waiting to drop in upstate New York

Fallout continues in upstate New York, where a Republican schism allowed Democrats to pick up an extra House seat — whether to banish a non-conforming and unrepentant GOP candidate. This from the local newspaper, the Watertown Daily Times:

Republican Dierdre K. Scozzafava faces an uncertain future in state politics after aborting her congressional campaign three days before elections and throwing her support behind her Democratic opponent.

Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb, R-Canadaigua, said he’ll decide next week whether or not to remove the Gouverneur assemblywoman as the party’s pro tempore, or floor leader. And Ms. Scozzafava said Wednesday that she’s unsure if she’ll seek a seventh Assembly term next fall.

“I don’t know where I’m going to land in this,” she said. “But I hope, when the dust settles, that people see that the decision that I made put the people first.”

Here’s the killer quote:

“If this is my end, so be it,” she said. “At least I know we have a congressional representative who is going to put the interests of the district above the interests of the Club for Growth and Rush Limbaughs of the world.”

We’ll take her. Given how the boys treated her, what did they THINK she was going to do? While Republicans are busy patting themselves on the back for the two Governor’s races on Tuesday, they seem to forget that if they continue to narrow the “acceptable” demographic and ideology for the Republican party, we will be in power for the forseeable future. Fine by me.

Well, in a year we can settle this debate. This was a special election with no primary. I have no doubt that a conservative Republican will take the seat back in a year. Jumbo G will ignore it, but I am going to save this page and re-post it then. The democrats are desperate. All of Obama’s “big” ideas are failing. The country is rejecting his big government plans. I even saw where the unemployment rate is up to 10.2% even after Obama lied and said that if we passed his “government stimulus” unemployment wouldn’t go over 8%. Bigtime conventional thinking Jumbo G others are scrambling to distract us from the miserable failure that is Obama and the democrat led leadership in this country. Keep whistling past the graveyard.

There will be no Republican come back in the NY-23. The state legislature is already working on a redistricting plan that will split this district up into two parts to be absorbed by the adjacent Democrat controlled districts.
And for everybody who keeps hearing the Dems saying this is the first time since the Civil War that a Dem has won the district was represented by a Dem from 1989-1993, when the Gingrich Revolution swept the Dems out of power.

This time next year you will see a lot of upset liberals, just realize it isn’t because of anything Republicans or conservatives have done or will do. It all can and will be laid at the feet of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. And it will be rightly so.

The independents in this country gave the left a chance and look where it has gotten us.

Right again AH. The Dems have total control in Washington and 2010 will be an up or down vote on their performance. 2009 results along with the polls say they are in deep trouble thank God. Now Pelosi can’t get 218 votes for her health plan. Christmas may come early this year.

One suggestion to the Dems, dump Pelosi and Reid and get new effective leadership.

Dierdre K. Scozzafava’s voting record more resembles that of a Dem than a Repub. You would have thought that she and the Repubs that nominated her to run for this seat would have figured that out beforehand. Perhaps the next time, the Repubs might want to check with the Conservative party or not be as tone deaf as the Dems are with regard to what the people are screaming about that they view as issues.

AH

Actually they should kick Lieberman out of the party and all the blue dogs. And the Republican party should kick all moderates out of the party. Then you would end up with two parties making up about 60% of Congress. The remaining 40% would actually be the people that keeps everything reasonable and we could all sleep at night without fear that congress is going to do something insane, right or left.

Ah, right on target. Both parties have lost what the people want. The people, actually fall under the category of “Libertarian” because they want increased social freedoms but a fiscally sound, unobtrusive government. I can’t way for the day that the masses realize just how great the Libertarian views are, despite how the Repubs and Dems want to paint them because they are afraid of losing power.

2010 is going to be a bloodbath for Lil Hussein and his army of miscreants who wish to make America Godless and militarily weak. The cracks already started on Tuesday with huge losses in VA and even Godless NJ. I’m thrilled that the Socialistic Obama Agenda is dead, but not quite buried. That burial will happen in Nov 2010 which will make 1994 look like a picnic. You September 10th Secular Progressives will be sore losers and whine even more in far left pubs like this and The Nation. History shows that liberalism is a failed idea. One only needs to look at Canada, the former Soviet Union, France, Sweden, Norway and Finland. We are going to see a return to freedom in this once-great nation. You know who I love? Your Congressman Linder. I picked up his FAIRTax book and it’s incredible! I’m one who thinks most taxe$ should be eliminated, but I think this Linder guy is onto something. You also have this great guy on your 750 AM station-Cain. I just love this man and wish he could be our president. He talks a lot like my Bible study buddy Roosevelt. I learn a lot from them. Roosevelt agrees that this Hussein Obama is not our president and that this is a short, bad blip in our nation’s history. Very soon, we will return to normalcy where taxe$ will be low, prayer will return to our schools and we will have a respect for life in our new clean culture. Mark my word: 2010 will be even more historic. Amen, BOW

This is hardly a referendum on the Obama Agenda. The folks who put Obama in the WH, didn’t show up on Tuesday. The energy faded after Obama was sworn in. Next year will be bad for the Dems not only because the right wing media is demonizing Pelosi and Reid and the fact that there will be more apathy with those left-of-center. Right wing media is a populist tool that is getting the politically uneducated fired up. They’re showing up @ tea parties, town halls and elsewhere. All you have to do is look at these so-called conservative gatherings. They’re filled with talk radio drones who repeat the lies spewed forth by Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, Beck and their copycats in every market. They repeat lie after lie like Boortz who is irresponsible with his remarks about Muslims. If you replace the word “Muslim” with Jew in Boortz’s hate speech, you would think that Hitler himself was reincarnated on our airwaves. He’s nothing compared to Michael Savage who is dangerous. The point is that right wing talk has quite an impact on the naïve listener. They’re organized and they do vote. Unfortunately, so many Obama ‘08 supporters are clueless that there’s more than voting for president. That is one reason why Jim Martin lost to Chambliss, a benign “legislator.” The GA Dems are pathetic. They will have no idea how to mobilize in 2010. You will probably see the Ox in the Gov. Mansion and more seats in the House go to the GOP. This will be played out in several states.

That’s right. The dems lose Jersey and VA (home of the current DNC Chairman and term limited VA Gov). Obama campaigns for both govs on multiple occasions. NY 23 an odd race without a primary, because the of the bassackwards NY rules, falls to the democrats. So to get this straight, the two States in which Obama advocated for democrats were lost. The one state that Obama steered clear of was a winner for the democrats.

Lesson: If Obama had shown up in all three state the Republicans would have had a tri-fecta!

Nice try, RJ. Please play again.

I’ll make an offer to offended Republicans: We Dems will take Ms. Scozzafava and you folks can gladly have Joe Lieberman. Deal? We’ll even throw in a few Blue Dog Dems as a bonus. Dede has courage. She had the selflessness to drop out of a race she had zero chance of winning (and act as a spoiler) and she had the courage to come out against the party that abandoned her and for a candidate who knew and cared about the interests of district NY 23. Tell me how often you see politicos, of either party, do something like that? Politicians are normally the first to save their own rear ends, regardless of the situation. Ms. Scozzafava saved the rear ends of her potential constituents.

Doug Hoffman was a nut job, pure and simple. He didn’t even have the decency to live in the district so naturally he had no grasp or command of any of the issues that concerned the citizens of NY23. In one interview he acted peeved that questions about local issues were even asked. Would you want someone like that to represent you? Actually, you probably would – which goes to the heart of your problems. That and worshiping delusional blowhards like Glenn Beck, “The Lyin’ Messiah”. I have very right wing Republican friends and we’ll never agree on the issues but we still respect each other despite our differences. They’re praying for me and I’m praying for them. I love them enough that I’m actually considering calling in ‘The Exorcist’.

Stay healthy because with ‘friends’ like United Healthcare, BCBS, Aetna, and the politicians they buy, sickness is cheaper than insurance premiums. We’ reap what we’ve allowed to be sown in our names.

Listening to the children babble about our team doesn’t want these people and their team stinks shows why both political parties are horrid.

Who cares about Reps or Dems, except for the people who make a living fooling voters into thinking that somehow political parties are important. What’s important are jobs, the economy, schools, roads, keeping us safe and healthcare. The average, smart voter could care less about Reps and Dems, but blame both parties for the fact that nothing ever seems to be accomplished because the toddlers in Washington are more concerned about the turf wars than the needs of the citizens.

Rush is a genius, because he has made millions by fooling foolish people into listening to his radio show where he spouts things that even he doesn’t really believe. Misters Beck, Hannity, and Levin, too. Poor Rachel and Kieth may actually believe the drivel they spout to make money.

If there were more Liebermans, Scozzafavas, Zells and Olympias, maybe less time and money would be wasted on trying to beat out the “other side” and we could have logical people who evaluate each issue independently and do what they think is best for the country.

BTW, look at what happened to Lisa Borders when she started spouting “we need a Democrat” in her commercials! Her loser campaign failed even more after that. She barely registered when the final votes were counted. Proof that the majority hate all political parties.
