I agree that Atlanta is becoming the Detroit of the south and. I want the best person to win, race doesnt matter.

To all of the hateful racial comments, I will pray for you. It must be awful to walk around with fear and misunderstanding of other people.

I work everyday. No one has never given me a handout. Ive never been arrested or visited family members in jail. Do white people really think we all grow up without or fathers on food stamps? That is so far from the truth.

Im tired of the stereotypes.

@ PolitcOracle - Please tell me what knowledge Reed has about the City? He makes contradicting errors left and right regarding City departments and functions. How about Reed's brother who Mayor Franklin created a $100k job for? That's at least two police officers off the street or two less firefighters protecting the people of Atlanta. Two jobs might not sound like a lot, but that's two less people protecting the citizens of Atlanta against the number one issue facing Atlanta - Gang Violence (K. Reed).

Seriously, people? Grow up. The real issue is that this has turned into a race issue. If either of these candidates want to unite the City then by focusing on "uniting the African-American" vote, "uniting the gay vote" is not uniting the City. It's continuing to increase the divide that some believe may or may not be there. What relevance is there that Ludicris is supporting Reed? And if someone votes because of the endorsement, then they shouldn't be allowed to vote! Of course the democrats in the state are going to support Reed - is that really a big surprise? Ignore race, gender, party affiliation and vote based on the candidate and their ability to successfully bring this City out of the gutter. I was a Borders supporter, and now I'm a Norwood supporter. Why? Because Reed is corrupt and doesn't have a clue about how the City of Atlanta is run or even where to begin in rebuilding it. Listen to his comments and responses to questions, and if you don't want to listen, read the responses he gives on his blog that show a complete lack of understanding on the role of Mayor within the City.

@PolitcOracle - I'll tell you what then: you vote and I vote and we'll both cancel eachother out. Nothing you've said has changed my mind and nothing I've said has changed yours, i'm guessing. Either way this City suffers from a huge divide and neither side seems to be working all that hard to reach out to the other. Raced-based election here we come.

@Matt

First of all I live South of I-20 and so does Reed and Borders. Secondly, you sound dumb in your continuance on this trip that somehow blacks don't support white candidtes. I'm gonna assume you're white, its you southern whites that vote based on race more than any other group. This was found through empirical research.

Also, you're ignorant to spread the myth that blacks disproportionately benefit from city contracts. Only 30% of contracts from city business, 38% go to white womena and the rest (the lion's share) goes to white firms.

Here are some comments from another poster that will shed some light on your misinformation:

Does anyone know the true percentage of African American contracts with the City of Atlanta or the Airport? Less than 30%. White women enjoy 38% of the contracts. If you knew the percentage would you still be hollering about anyone African American having a contract? Should white businesses just get all the contracts? Is that what you are saying? Look at the state of Georgia contracts? Do you know what the percentage of African Americans that have received contracts? less than 5%. That means White businesses are enjoying 95% of the state contracts that are let. Does this mean you want 100%? Getting a contract means you are creating jobs. Jobs sorely needed in the African American community. You fools keep talking about no-bid contracts within the City of Atlanta procurement process. There is no such thing. Stop talking like birthers. It is really irritating. Unless you have researched the procurement process, have some understanding of the process it makes you sound ignorant and racist when you don’t know the numbers. Check it out for yourself. This is all public information. Go to this Executive Summary that details the disparity studies that have been conducted regarding the discrimination of minority females (black and Hispanic) and the implemented remedies. http://www.atlantaga.gov/client_resources/mayorsoffice/contractcomp/microsoft%20word%20-%20final%20executive%20summary%2010.30.06.pdf. When you look at the numbers you should be ashamed of yourself.

Also, thank you for voting for Barack Obama. He was the better man for the job. Black voters are not non-supportive of Norwwod because she's white. We aren't' supporting her because she's not the most qualified. I would have supported Hilary Clinton had she won the primaries, but she lost and Obama was better than McCain. Norood is a weak candidate, with a limited knowledge and demonstration of leadership. She walked lock-in-step with Mayor Franklin until it become unpopular to do so. Come better and stop injecting race, I'm telling you only your candidate stands to lose from it.

@PolitcOracle - Just like most of the Black politicians have done for the past 30 years, I will not be visiting the area South of I-20. Ya'll have been taken for a ride thinking Reed or Borders ever cared one bit for your area. I voted for Obama because he said he was going to change the way politics were handled - nothing will ever change Atlanta. Same old racist blacks who will never ever support a person who's white, just because they're white. And they'll never admit it. It's always Whites who are racist, but I can tell you it definately goes both ways. Atlanta is a messy, disfunctional, corrupt ponzi scheme that only benefits rich blacks who were given contracts with the City under Jackson. Why don't you go back to South of I-20 and let Atlanta finally progress into something resembling a functional, organized, well-run City.

@Matt

You couldn't be more wrong and its obvious you have no clue about Atlanta politics. If there was a sense of anti-Obama sentiment in Atlanta, Norwood wouldn't have a chance she's preaching the same message.

Are you trying to make this election racial Matt? Please don't take it there, you may fan racial tensions that only Norwood stands to lose from. President Obama won Atlanta in both the primary and the general elections of 2008. Get a life and go out and canvas for Norwood on South of I-20. Unless you're too afraid of the blacks.

Come on folks, Mary Norwood IS going to be the next Mayor of Atlanta in December's runoff because it's anti-Obama sentiment (see what doomed New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine's reelection effort against ex-US Attorney Chris Chrisite (R) in the New Jersey governor's race for Drumthwacket and the spanking State Senator Creigh Deeds (D-Bath County) received in the VA governor's race against former State AG Bob McDonnell (R) in the battle for the VA Executive Mansion).

Let's face it, there is also Black Mayor fatigue going on in Atlanta and with the demographics changing in the city with whites and latinos moving in downtown and metropolitan and blacks steadily going into the suburbs, Norwood has this LOCKED UP.

New Orleans is also likely to elect a white mayor in 2010 with John Georges.
