McDonnell running away in Virginia?

Leaked early exit polling in Virginia is giving Republican Robert McDonnell a 55-45 percent lead over Democrat Creigh Deeds.

These are only first round of exits, so take them with a few tablespoons of salt. Among the details:

–55% said that Obama had nothing to do with their vote;

– 24% said they were voting to express opposition to Obama;

– African-American turnout is at 15 percent, which would be a disappointment to Democrats;

– McCain voters (49 percent) outnumber Obama voters (46 percent).

– McDonnell is winning everywhere in the state except the Tidewater area, which he’s splitting with Deeds. The Republican is losing 62 to 37 percent in the D.C. suburbs.

– McDonnell is running 63 to 36 percent among independents.
