Rule .303, it’s relevant because Karen Handel represents herself as the only “woman” in the race. Most women I know have children. There’s nothing wrong with Karen Handel not having children. I’m not sure what her reasons are. Could be inability or could be selfishness. The question is whether we want a governor who has not had the profoundly awesome experience of being a parent. Someone who has not worried about the local elementary school, or stretched a budget to feed a family, or dealt with a little one’s asthma, or tenderly bathed a newborn. Children make the world go around. They are the reason we build and develop and generally try to make things a little better. Karen Handel, so to speak, doesn’t have a dog in the good fight. Rent the movie Children of Men.

Never thought I’d agree and sympathize with Douglas on something.

I doubt I’ll be voting for Handel, and I understand the “no degree” comments, but what’s up with that “no kids” concern? Is that a southern thing? Is that code for something? Seems pretty pathetic and desperate.

Will Jones: …no kids… Until you have been through the heartbreak of not being able to have children, you cant imagine how cruel that comment is. My wife and I were in the same situation but were able to adopt. I pray that life never presents you with some sort of situation that you can’t control. And I hope that at some point, compassion becomes a trait of your personality.
