Any other Ken Hodges endorsements since Nunn? Teilhet seems to be getting his buddies in the legislature to endorse him, while Hodges seems to be focusing on a band of prominent Georgia Democrats. Not sure which strategy is more useful (if either).

we need some who will take ATL forward in development(water pipelines to dams,tankless water heater tax break,outerlimits HWY and JOBS ) and yes safety but not heavy handed over anyone groups ; this why KASIM REED is the person for job,not MS MARY NORWOOD

I like your truthfulness. I knew about the Hartsfield contracts, but I didn’t know about the King&Spaulding and investment firm contracts. I’m not surprised though.

If there is no impropriety or unfairness exposed, be quiet. If Norwood, Borders or Reed wins there’ll be a new group of contract insiders.

In the case of Jackmont, they own and operate mainstream restaurants like TGI Fridays. Get over it, Maynard Jackson served this city well and his daughter is running the successful business that was started out of his legacy. This is no different than George W.Bush, The Kennedy’s and other political dynasties passing the mantle to their descendants.

This is a direct quote from Borders, lifted from her campaign site….

IN THE TV spot…she said that Thomas asked for the money to pay off his campaign debt. And he would then endorse her.

Ok…I do MY research…I just can’t understand how others haven’t picked up this juicy bit of news. The attempt here was to smear Norwood by inferring she did “something” for Glenn Thomas’ endorsement.

Dirty politics indeed.

Well, Duh. The news report I saw yesterday said (or Borders said) that Glenn Thomas approached her (her campaign people??) for his support IF she would pay off his campaign debt to the tune of $25,000.00.

Now, I remember Borders saying that ‘She understood English” (she was a bit pissy about being asked, too) and no, she wasn’t mistaken. I can’t remember which channel carried it, but damn, I am looking for Jim Galloway or someone to comment.

So…what are you going to believe?? That Aliens had control of the cameras/mikes, and Borders made this all up to smear Norwood?

Wait! That IS a possibility considering the present race. And IF Norwood paid off Thomas for his support….well, that will come out…eventually.

@ “Truthteller”….Ah…I’ve been here in Atlanta for 40 years and voting for all those years. I’ve seen buses pulled up to voting places and old women get off the bus and openly say: “Now, who was it I was told to vote for?”

This is voting politics in the ghetto, brother.

Get real, TT…come to SW Atlanta and see the myriad possibilities of rampant ignorance amongst the populace. I have and remain unconvinced that politics are served by this amazing behavior.

And as for City Hall, etc…as you mentioned. Been there (and Court Watch a lot of times).

Why does Anonymous Midtown Resident, and so many others of you, seem to want so desperately to believe that someone cheated? Dont you think that the brillian investigative reporters around ATL would have uncovered an attempt to steer contracts toward one specific company? Criteria put in place to favor specific companies, no bid contracts and all of that foolishness went out the window as soon as Maynard came on the scene. Dont believe it? Did you know that King & Spalding and handled ALL of Atl’s legal work for decades, no questions asked. Did you know that Robinson Humphrey, an old Atl investment banking firm handled ALL of Atl’s business for years, no bid no questions. Did you know that Hartsfield’s wife had a contract at the Atl Airport for years and there was never a bid request issued. The contract was given to her, no questions asked. All of these events took place prior to 1974. RIP Maynard, we miss you and we especially miss and need leaders who spoke the truth, had some balls and used them with CLASS.

All airport contracts are awarded through an open, public bid process. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a contract at Hartsfield Jackson because of who you know. In fact, family and political connections can hurt a business that is pursuing opportunities in airport concessions. That is reality. If you choose to convince yourself otherwise that is your business, but facts are facts.

And to TEELA, those who cant think or read for themselves believe everything they see in newspapers and on the news. EDUCATE YOURSELF!! It is truly MINDNUMBING TEELA, to think that there are people out there who will cast a vote without so much as a clue about the facts on their candidate.

GET OFF THE BLOGS AND GO SPEND SOME TIME IN CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, VISIT LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS WEBSITE OR FIND SOME SOURCE OF FACTUAL INFO — THAT IS IF YOU ARE ACTUALLY INTERESTED IN FACTS.
