First off if you don't live in the City of Atlanta please no comments, you have no real idea what is really going on. A runoff should not even be a option if you are serious about winning this election. Because guess what? People don't show up for runoffs! (especially in this city) I think both Norwood, Reed, Borders, and Spikes have great ideas but nobody is standing out but the ugly duckling (Norwood) probably because she is presenting herself as the most level headed and unpolarizing. The first one to create a vision will win (still waiting). Everyone has qualifications but who will EXECUTE and SUCCEED not ATTEMPT and FAIL. I was a Norwood supporter then i heard Reed at the Emory debate and was very impressed how much info he knows compared to everyone else. Norwood came off very out of character and uncomfortable, I see her as being a mayor nobody sees and out of touch with the real residents of the city. Sure she might ATTEMPT to change things but i don't think she has the spine to really be taken seriously. Sorry but I am leaning toward Reed. At least he knows the city he is running and the people that live in it. Borders just scares me! Comes off as too politically expedient, entitled, and is over ambitious.

Oh yeah BTW, did any of you know that Norwood was a lobbyist back in the day so if you want K street politics have at it!!!

Actually,

ThisIsIt
October 26th, 2009
8:59 am

Your "contribution" showed up on this column some time ago.

As a fiscal conservative the notion of downsizing future city-funded payroll, benefits, and retirements is not entirely unattractive; and having an Atlantan running for mayor make an articulate, poised, intelligent suggestion in that direction is something any responsible citizen should be willing to consider.

Integrity of elected officials overseeing "product," regardless of process, is key.

Anything "poised," "intelligent," or "articulate" emanate from Mary Bush yet, in your opinion?

Please be specific, with another video cite and quote.

It is Social Security's privatization the Gay Old Pervert party Mary Norwood's been supporting has advocated.

Vaunted as "The Neighborhood Maven," willing to be filmed hugging Black people, she called my most northwest of Atlanta's neighborhoods Southwest Atlanta: one can only surmise because her Buckhead manse may have an Atlanta NW mailing address and the presence of Blacks around here means they must live in SWATS...or simply because she is an addlepated fraud fronting for the Roman Catholic Anti-Christ.

Why doesn't she admit where she worships? Or if she does?

What does Ms. Norwood have going for her other than her shade of skin? Certainly not her clearly absent integrity. G-d didn't think enough of her to even give her a child. She is a woman, is she not?

Vernon Jones, pervert that he is, was at least willing to admit he voted for George W. Bush, twice.

How many times did Mary vote for her 9/11-committing cousin? Once would be bad enough in Our New Jerusalem.

What do you bet she voted for him twice?

YAAAAAWN. Sooooo, anyway. ONE televised debate to go and Norwood is still in the lead by 20 points. Good luck, Kasim - you need it.

Franklin is saving her endorsement to see which candidate, Borders or Reed, makes it to a runoff with Norwood. Then she will endorse that candidate, because either of them will defend the status quo in city contracts for the Jackson machine. Franklin’s position is ‘anyone but Norwood.’

If you want more of the inside dealing and financial mismanagement that has left the city drained of the resources it needs to provide public safety and basic services to the citizens, then Borders or Reed is your candidate too.

If you want a candidate that will put the taxpayers and neighborhoods before the developers and bond lawyers, then Mary is your only choice.

With regard to race, if Mary were black, she would have a large majority of the black vote because she has been working hard for their neighborhoods while Franklin, Borders and Reed have neglected them. Mary would have a sizable share of the white vote for the same reasons. If Mary were black, she would, without a doubt, win this race without a runoff. She may do so anyway, which is a real sign of progress in race relations.

If Borders and Reed were white, they would be considered the stuffed-shirt corporate shills they are, and receive a small minority of the black vote and the votes of the downtown and Buckhead business interests.

Atlanta is the Best City in the World,

and

Midtown Mania
October 26th, 2009
12:23 am
is part of the proof.

Intelligent and wise. Well thought out and expressed.

Kasim Reed, on the other hand, moved to town, what, two years ago, after establishing himself as the go-to "Tom" to put "blackface" on Big Corporate's courtroom fight against race discrimination/Civil Rights law suits?

What a phenomenal sleazebag Kasim Reed: repealing Dr. King's legacy, one gig at a time. No Atlantan he.

Mark, quit spreading disinformation.

1. ...so quietly, in fact, that not a single person has heard Franklin say anything like this. Shirley has yet to endorse anyone, and murmurings around City Hall say she's going with Kasim.

2. Again, this is unsubstantiated, conspiratorial fear-mongering.

3. The question from Morris Diggs was whether, if she had to choose tonight, Borders would fire Rob Hunter. She said no, but also acknowledged that Hunter's tenure had been full of good AND bad decisions. Pay attention next time.
