WOW!!! Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill. Totally an interpertation thing. Let’s see; who might live in the ghetto. Blacks, latinos, whites (various nationalities). So with that in mind, could it possibly be grandmothers included in those groups? What about grandfathers, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. You get the picture. Put ghetto in front of them all. Doesn’t seem racial, does it? Yeah, the guy probably was referring to Blacks, as we are always preceived as ghetto people, regardless of where we live and wht our economic status might be. That’s their preception. Blacks are and always will be stigmatized. So what if you live in the ghetto. Good people are a part of the ghetto. They are there not by choice. They just happen to share the ghetto with a higher proportion of criminals than other parts of the area which they reside.

So in reality, we all know what dude was referring to. I promise you it was Black grandmothers. But he didn’t specify, so you can only interpert his statement. But look deeper into this guy’s history. I’m not from GA. but read AJC. Just wanted to weigh in.

What’s wrong with the term “ghetto grandma’s”. The old arguement about not requiring ID was that very old poor grandma’s that lived in ghettos didn’t have ID cause they couldn’t afford it. or didn’t have a birth certicate cus they were too poor to have it.
You can’t cash a welfare check without ID anymore or any check.
The ghetto grandma arguement doesn’t work anymore.

here’s the skippy on the double standard, there are absolutely words and phrases that whites shouldn’t say as well as there are things blacks shouldn’t say. i have a white friend, she’s well off and a little snoody. she doesn’t hestitate to refer to certain white people we may see as ‘white trash”. As an African American that is a term I would never use eventhough I hear it quite often. I don’t know if you downtrotten white people know it or not, but wealthy white people look down on poor, uneducated, racist white people, and yes, they even have racist and demeaning names they call you behind your backs.

Reading all these comments has been fun. People talking about things for which they have absolutely NO personal reference or experience, taking sides and deciding for whom they’ll vote for governor in the next election based on values, ideology, and/or keeping one party down as opposed to another, etc. All things that have NOTHING to do with examining the candidates’ records on the issues that are important to them. My prediction of who will win the next governor’s election in GA is MORE OF THE SAME. The winning candidate’s name is immaterial.
