Ed Kilgore at the Democratic Strategist, a former Georgian operative, has posted these intriguing lines:
…[Y]ou make the case that the recent abrasive behavior of the Republican Party may have helped damage Democrats, but isn’t helping Republicans much, either. Since Republicans have a much tougher climb to make to reach anything like majority status, they are in danger of committing a political murder-suicide….
It’s possible, and perhaps even probable, that the GOP strategy for 2010 is to create a political environment so toxic and voter-alienating that Republicans can win a very low turnout election by whipping their base into a genuine frenzy. That’s obviously not a very good scenario for the country, and it remains to be seen if it’s even good for the GOP.

Do you think that in 2010 we could have months and months of confrontational rallies with gun toting zealots, birthers and tea baggers forcing citizens to run their rally gauntlets? Will yelling and screaming insults change minds of many adults that Republicans’ are better qualified to govern than Democrats?

2010 will be a bloodbath for the weak, secular Dems. Your Rep. Tom Price will be the Speaker who will fight this radical White House and its commitment to destroying America. Keep on giving the MSM, Hussein Nobama, Pelosi and Reid what they deserve: major defeat next year. It’s time to bring this nation back to its Christ-centered principles of self-determination, strong defense, pro-business characteristics. We need to shut down the far left debauchery of Hollywood which forces its disgusting values of child molestor Roman Polanski down our throats. This is all coming to a head as that sick man goes to prison for life. While we’re at it, let’s have the honorable Rep. John Boehner begin impeachment hearings against this illegitimate president. 2013 is not soon enough to rightfully elect Gov. Huckabee or Palin into the White House.
We must return to a system of right and wrong. It’s right to have a health care system based upon a free market. It’s right to invade lands that possess nuclear weapons without our permission. It’s right to make sure that every child prays to his God and Jesus.
We are going back to this way of life soon where the Bush Doctrine will be reinstated. Low taxes will be back. We will not coddle dictators ever again. We will pick up where The Surge left off. Marriage will be between man and woman. This is a Judeo-Christian nation: love it or leave it. Christians will be able to celebrate Christmas again. We will be able to play our Lee Greenwood records without fear of being arrested.

The ramblings of the bill whites and will jones of the world remind me of how many were suckered into believing the propaganda of the Hitler and Mussolini regimes. Intelligent people, those who actually THINK versus pledging allegiance to a political party (both of which are filled to the brim with corruption), realize government is inherently evil from the ground up, and from the local to the federal level. The failings of both political parties were, in many cases, intentional, but while creating fodder for the opposing party, clearly displays that our current government structure is all about self-preservation and NOT serving the people. Until our form of government is restructured, those who are responsible for the failings will persist and prosper, while the nations’ people will suffer.

Bill White and his ilk are exactly why the Democrats and progressives will continue to increase majorities in Federal, state, and local elections across the country. His thinly-veiled bigotry-based rantings are reminiscent of a thankfully bygone era, and those of his kind are declining in both popularity and numbers–as Eisenhower said so many years ago, “they are stupid and their numbers are few.” Despite White’s proclamations, he clearly does not understand the Christian ethic. As for Republicans, all they have is hyperbole, falsehoods, and negativity–nothing new or original. Their 6 years in power have revealed the ineffectiveness of their ideas and the ineptitude of their leaders. We MUST move past this era in politics, particularly Republican and right-wing hate-based tactics, so we can be one country again.

Bill White…where to start with such a delusional post?
First off, the MSM are owned by a small handful of conservative corporations. If they are too liberal for you, why don’t you complain to them, instead of howling into the wind about it?
I also seem to remember that during our former chimp-in-chief’s tenure, it was considered bad form for Democrats to call him “W” or just “Bush”, with the claim that the office of President deserved more respect even as he had our country circling the drain. And yet now there are no limits to the vitriol conservatives use, while apparently forgetting that whole “office of the President deserves respect” thing.
The republican mantra of “self-determination, strong defense, pro-business characteristics” is republican code for:
a)elimination of medicare, medicaid, social security.
b)bloated military budget spent on unworkable hugely-expensive weapons systems that are theoretical, uproven, and geared toward cold-war dogma.
c)elimination of consumer-protection laws, no gov’t regulation of the banking or insurance industries, massive tax breaks for multi-billion-dollar corporations, and the kind of corporate culture that is destroying the middle class and the poor.
As for the debauchery of Hollywood, it is merely another right-wing hysteria point, mindless of the fact that Hollywood responds to what the public wants and spends money to see. You have the tail wagging the dog on this one. If the public wanted nothing but musicals, Hollywood would make nothing but musicals. Given the recent manufactured right-wing anger and hysteria, I would think that you would be comfortable with the level of violence and ignorance of the lowest common denominator. And, seriously, Roman Polanski? So now Hollywood promotes rape? I guess you don’t know that more crimes against women occur in the red states of conservative America…they also have the highest divorce rates and the greatest number of teen pregnancies. Seems to me that these places enjoy rape, divorce, and teen-sex more than anyone. Highest incidents of crimes against women…Alaska.
Illegitimate President? Still can’t accept that a black man won, can you? He really was born in Hawaii, as the State has said. That Nigerian “birth certificate” was a poorly-executed forgery and fraud. Face it. Obama really is a U.S. citizen. Your codger/bimbo ticket lost, plain and simple.
As for returning to a system of right and wrong, I agree. The Bush administration broke so many laws and killed so many people, illegally, that he and Cheney should be held legally responsible for their war crimes.
And it is faith in for-profit health care that has resulted in our spending more money than any other nation in exchange for the 37th-best health-care system in the world. It is also responsible for the yearly deaths of 44,000 people who cannot afford our for-profit, denial-happy corporate-owned system.
So, other lands must look to us for permission to possess nuclear weapons? I’m not crazy about Iran having the bomb, but invading Iran would make both Iraq and Afghanistan look like a dance around the maypole. Invading them would be just like having had to invade Japan to end WW2. Millions dead, but with a nuclear retaliation by Iran or by terrorists a certainty. Maybe we should invade Pakistan, too, so that their nukes don’t get into the wrong hands. Oops, better invade the former Soviet-bloc countries for the same reason. I guess we should invade Nigeria too, so that their uranium ore doesn’t go to people we don’t like. Oh, and China too. They have the Bomb, and I don’t recall their having asked our permission. A strike against Iranian facilities may be necessary, but invading the entire country would be disastrous. Plus, where to get enough soldiers to take and occupy Iran? We won’t be done in Iraq or Afghanistan, and yet a 3rd war seems like a good idea to you? I am pretty sure that your butt won’t be going off to fight. Got any kids? Send them.
Now, didn’t the Pilgrims leave England and Holland because they were in opposition to a gov’t-established religion? Didn’t our Founding Fathers believe in freedom of religion? That would also mean freedom FROM religion if you should choose not to worship, or to worship differently. But how to “make sure that every child prays to his God and Jesus”?
(And aren’t they the same entity under the concept of a Holy Trinity?) Maybe we should implant monitoring chips in each child and keep track of how many times they pray each day. Maybe we should establish set times for prayers, and arrest those that don’t comply. I guess we could also monitor the home environments of children, to ensure that their parents are praying according to your gov’t-sanctioned requirements. Ooh, better monitor all public areas too, to make sure that nothing unholy happens. I know! We’ll establish the Morality Police, to make sure that people are worshiping and behaving according to gov’t regulations.
Oh, and wouldn’t you be concerned with the growth of gov’t that this would cause?
And how to pay for the Morality Police and monitoring chips and public-area surveillance if taxes are cut, probably for the wealthiest people most of all? I guess it would have to be “Goodbye Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, FDIC, FEMA, USDA, OSHA, NEA, EPA.”
But I imagine that politicians would still receive their top-drawer health plans, pensions, pay packages and perks. Make poor people pay, because who cares about them, anyway? No one important. Not you, either.
The Bush Doctrine was, and is, a disaster. After all, President Obama gained more concessions from, and made more progress with Iran during one day of talks than the 8 years of sabre-rattling and jingoistic hostility of George “My Way or the Highway” Bush.
Denying the possibility of marriage to at least 10% of our population has done nothing to curtail a national divorce rate of 50%. Again, the “red” states have a higher rate of divorce than the ‘blue” states…where does that leave you? Why discriminate against people who
want to get married? Oh, right, because YOU don’t like the idea.
Love America or leave it? What if you do love it, as I do, but would rather see it continue as a Democracy instead of installing your brand of theocracy? What if Endless War just doesn’t seem to be the proper path for us? What if taking care of the poor, disabled and elderly seems like a better way to go than the unbridled pursuit of the Almighty Dollar? Don’t you know that people like you AND me would never see any of that enormous profit, even as it is gained from our own suffering and toil?
Wait…Christmas was outlawed? When did that happen? I seem to remember there being a Christmas as recently as last year…odd. Where were the Kringle Kops? Where were the SWAT teams destroying nativity scenes? I don’t even recall so much as one Christian being jailed, tortured, deported, fined, or even beaten up for celebrating Christmas. Dang.
Don’t recall anyone getting arrested for playing Lee Greenwood records, either.
All in all, I’d recommend that you just calm down, take a deep breath, and ask your doctor if Prozac is right for you.

Well, the biased-liberal-media is certainly giving the GOP the soapbox for their ramblings. We’ll see if it matters. Being raised in a democrat home where JFK walked on water and later being a union member and officer for 32 years I think I qualify as someone who understands democrats. But, I, still have to wonder why anyone would spend over one million dollars to NOT show their birth certificate. Why would anyone spend $50.00 to NOT show their birth certificate, college records, medical records, etc.? I personally would like to see them .Obama doesn’t have to show them to the public, just to me, for my peace of mind.
All these articles trying to make fools of those who only want to see the Constitution followed remind me of a statement by Ghandi. He said, regarding the truth:”First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win”. It seems we are in the ridicule/fight stage now.

Health care as it is being discussed now is a bogus issue. Changing how we pay for it does nothing to change what drives the costs. It is a typical liberal reaction, fix the perception, don”t worry about the cause.
Health care costs are driven primarily by life style choices. We are not going to solve anything by rewarding bad choices.

You got that right. How stupid do they think we are? Tell the offenders to shape up or be prepared to pay for their own health care. The bills being considered are much too complicated and would be an administrative nightmare.
They’re confusing health insurance with health care when having insurance actually prevents care in many cases.
Sine we already have Medicare, why not extend it to everyone and let the insurance companies compete for the needed Medigap coverage? And let’s get those that qualify for Medicaid signed up.

Bill White, if that’s his or her real name, is another example of the right wing extremists problem of accepting a black man being the president of the United States. And he speaks for a lot of people of similar view. It is okay to disagree and voice your disagreement with the present administration, however, what is not okay is the personal attack on the president from the right wing on the kind of probelms they have created for this country in the last 8 years. The Republicans and their co-travellers are 100% responsible for the state of the economy, the deficits etc. They have to rely on propagation of lies to usurp power.

Hoe about iconomic incentives. Say for example an obese person has to pay twice as much for health care, would that not be an incentive to lose weight?
Realisticaly, we are not going to fix anything without serious changes in the way we do stuff. We have created a large class a people who firmly belive that the government owes them a living, and changing that mind set will be very dificult

I’m still horse laughing over ” Christ-centered principles of self-determination, strong defense, pro-business characteristics.”. According to Christian mythology, wasn’t Jesus the guy who said if your enemy smites you, turn the other cheek? And what was that about driving all those conservative businessmen out of the temple? They were just trying to make a living. How much did Jesus charge for healing Lazarus, or the blind guy? I think his comment about making sure everybody prays to Jesus is telling – the religious brand of wingnut hates America. That’s why they are so eager to destroy it so they can remold it in their own image. I believe it will look a lot like Saudi Arabia or Iran, just with a different mythical SuperBuddy.

fred, he has come forward with his birth certificate — the Certification of Live Birth that he has shown is currently the only form of Birth Certificate that Hawaii issues. Their web site says, “Certifications of Live Birth … are official government records documenting an individual’s birth.”

I’m not sure what transcripts you’re referring to, but the constitutional requirements for the Presidency are satisfied if he was born in the USA and has lived here long enough.

Check the “Certificate of Live Birth” presented by Obama’s people against others from Hawaii who have posted theirs. What hospital was he born in? Who was the doctor? Where are the signatures?
His college transcripts at Occidental College are alleged to have shown he was registered as an Indonesian. These have been sealed.

fred, the only way other Hawaiians may have more complete birth certificates is if they obtained the documents before 2001. Since that time, only COLBs are available, and they all look just like Obama’s. But that’s OK, the name of the doctor and the hospital are not relevant to his eligibility
You are not entitled to other documents on the basis of “allegations,” you should know that. If you think you are, go to court, but you’ve failed there time after time.

fred, I understand. You want to see a long-form birth certificate and college admission records. So what rule do we go by here — that the President of the United States has to show anyone who asks any document they ask for?
That’s why we have a legal system, to resolve disputes like this. The courts routinely demand evidence from people if they feel the request is warranted. And the courts have routinely dismissed the cases asking Obama to further prove his eligibility.
So feel free to take your requests to court. But, if the judges say no, you’ll just have to live with it. After all, that’s our legal system.
Do you care about the constitution?

Ah, ignorance: “What won’t be surprising will be the Senate changing of the guard next year.” Any observer with even a modicum of insight into the 2010 Senate race landscape recognizes that a takeover of the SENATE (rather than the House) is literally a statistical impossibility unless every safe incumbent suddenly retires. The GOP may well take back the House (they will almost certainly gain some seats), but there is a 0.0% chance of a “Senate changing of the guard next year”
