Warner Robins mayor dead of gunshot wound to head

This update was just posted by the Macon Telegraph:

Warner Robins Mayor Donald Walker was pronounced dead at 1:49 p.m. today after he suffered a gunshot wound to the head, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said.

The wound appears to have been self-inflicted, Police Chief Brett Evans said.

Walker, 60, was rushed to The Medical Center of Central Georgia early this afternoon. Authorities were dispatched to his Warner Robins home this morning after a report of a gunshot there…..

Evans said that Walker and his wife, Patricia, were at home this morning at the time of the shooting. He would not confirm any other details of what happened.

I am very sorry for the family….suicide is the last thing I would ever try…or something like that.

As new military relocating here, we are sad to hear of a leader dying, no matter how he or she die’s.
We send out an effectual fervent word of strength for his wife and family.

To whoever it was who said that it should have been Mike Vick instead of the mayor……seek professional help. Your hate has gotten the better of you and will someday consume you. Don’t forget whatever you sow you will reap…whether you believe it or not. My condolences to the Walker family.

Very sad to hear of anyone taking their life, my heart goes out to the family.

Also, Blogs are just that so you can comment, if you don’t like what someone is saying, ignore it, as everyone has a right to an opinion and it might just differ from yours.

This is a sad day. I live here in Atlanta and was raised in Warner Robins. Don Walker was a God-send to our city. People proclaiming that Mayor Walker was selfish, clearly do not know the guy. I do know, or I should say I knew, Mayor Walker. My guess is he must have been in serious pain. He lived a vibrant life and was a wonderful city manager. I wish Atlanta had leadership like Mayor Walker, who worked tirelessly to help build Warner Robins. May God bless the entire Walker family, many who have spent their entire lives working to help people in Warner Robins and Houston County.

Well, it looks like we can cross Mayor Walker off the list for this week’s poker game.

is wrong with ppl around GA that you leave such rude and heartless comments?! Im born and raised in Warner Robins and for the 1st time in my LIFE I am repulsed at some of the comments fellow Georgians would make whatever happened to “sothern hospitality”. Mayor Walker has DIED… Have a little compassion; or for you smart-a$$es “Karma is a B!T**!” Grow up!

I note that “Warner Robbins Resident” has made the classic mistake of misspelling the general’s name. As such, I’ll discount that comment until I hear some actual news on the subject.

Sad news in general, but in all those years of mayor, he may well have turned into his predecessor.

EVERY SINGLE DAY OF OUR LIVES, WE WALK A FINE LINE BETWEEN SANITY AND INSANITY, DEPENDING ON WHAT HAPPENS DURING THAT DAY!!

2 DAYS AGO OR 2 YEARS AGO, HE COULD HAVE BEEN HAPPY AS HELL, BUT NOW LOOK. PRAY FOR HIS FAMILY AND YOURSELVES. YOU ARE FINE TODAY, BUT YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT MAY HAPPEN TOMORROW: WILL YOUR SPOUSE EXPOSE AN AFFAIR? WILL YOUR CHILD BE MOLESTED? WILL YOU LOSE EVERYTHING IN A FLOOD? LOSE YOUR JOB?

YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT SENDS A PERSON OVER THE EDGE…BUT IF IT HAPPEND TO THEM, WHAT MAKES YOU THINK IT CAN’T HAPPEN TO YOU?

This is nuts...

Spelling aside, I have heard the same thing as “Warner Robbins”. I just don’t believe it and won’t believe it until I hear otherwise. Rumors suck during these times.
