In the field of mass-market politics, it’s all about the bumper sticker.
Last year, Rick Tyler was part of the Newt Gingrich team that produced the “drill here, drill now” catch phrase, which many strategists credit with helping to revive the GOP presidential campaign of John McCain last summer.
Consider the Fox News clip below to be Tyler’s attempt to boil GOP opposition to the Democratic health care plan down to three lampoonable words: The tampon tax.
Said Tyler on Friday:
But look, what I think people are beginning to understand is when President Obama said in the speech, “I will not pass this if it adds a single dollar to the deficit,” and what he means by that, and what he didn’t say, and what hasn’t been covered, is that when you don’t add a single dollar to the deficit to pay for this massive increase in spending, you have to increase taxes.
And those are going to be increased taxes on numerous things, which are included in the Baucus bill, by the way. And such things that are considered medical devices in class two and three, but those are things like contact lenses and solutions, hearing aids, thermometers, diabetes test strips, oxygen bottles, wheelchairs, condoms and tampons.

How-a-bout a new mantra for the rest of us: “It’s the Constitution and Founding Values, Stupid!” Can anyone name one problem in our nation today that wouldn’t be improved if we went back to the values and principles enshrined in our Declaration of Independence, and restricted the Federal Government to the limited Enumerated powers outlined in Article I, Section 8, of our Constitution.
http://www.nccs.net/freedom_defined/index.htm?const.html&2 is the best link to view our Constitution and see the original definitions of the words

More crap from Faux News. And founding values no longer apply. The Constitution needs to be updated for god sake. This is the new America. Love it or leave it.

Ray, I’ll buy you a ticket to anywhere in the world outside the United States Of America but you have to stay there forever. You’re kind of mindset is what’s screwing up our country. Your comment….”Love it or leave it”, obviously comes from someone that that doesn’t love the America that our brave fighting men and women have fought to protect for over two hundred years. Phooey on you and your ilk…..we’re tired of your commie, pinko drivel……get out of our great country……you obviously don’t belong.

Fox News is more accurate and has better views. Anyone that thinks otherwise is fooling themselves. We don’t want a new American that ruins America.

The following are not in the constitution: Medicare, Social Security, the Interstate Highway System, Federal funding for medical and scientific research, Federal student loans. I’m a big fan of all of them, Mr. Gruetter, just as I’m a fan of a Federal Public Option Insurance. Things change. Nobody wears knickers any more, either, in case you hadn’t noticed.

Kudos to Mr. Tyler and his guru, Newt Gingrich. Why bother engaging in an honest debate about public policy when you can come up with a plausible set of lies about your opponent’s position?

I must have missed a gene in early development. I don’t care if they raise my taxes. I really don’t worship money as if it were the true Golden Calf. I would be ashamed to utter the phrase “my tax dollars” because I view such attachment to money as immoral. You “tea party” wackos just look so small, mean spirited, grasping, and selfish. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn you live in caves with all your gold and glitter. Such grasping only shows a total lack of class and humanity. Makes me sick.

The insurance companies, drug companies and corporate media have fertilized the astroturf (with some pungent excrement) and the sheep (Fox News addicts, etc.) are grazing on it. Stop watching Fox News for a minute and read a book, magazine, newspaper. Let some other source of information have access to your brain.

Cheney, Bush, The Pope and Clinton’s Rockefeller-nose used the same weather machine that made Hurricane Katrina flood all the African Americans of New Orleans, to flood Atlanta. The Catholic G-D of the treasonous traitors that commited 9/11 are targeting me because I know they did 9/11. Those neocons are not above using the power of weather to silence their foes that misuse Latin tense and expose their treachery. Death for Treason.
