Yet another Army officer disputes legitimacy of Obama presidency

It’s time to wonder whether the following has become a substitute for the old Section 8 filing.

This from today’s Columbus Ledger-Enquirer:

An Army captain fighting deployment to Afghanistan has challenged the legitimacy of Barack Obama’s presidency in a federal complaint filed this month, and has employed attorney Orly Taitz — a national figure in the “birther” movement — to represent her.

The complaint of Capt. Connie Rhodes, filed Friday in the Columbus division of U.S. District Court, is similar to the July 8 suit filed by Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook, who sought conscientious objector status and a temporary injunction. Taitz represents both.

Judge Clay Land, who will hear Rhodes’ case, tossed out Cook’s case in July. Land said the judicial branch shouldn’t inject itself into “political disputes” and shouldn’t get involved in hypothetical debates that haven’t yet become actual legal disputes.

In the newest case:

“Plaintiff … submits and charges that the current de facto president is an illegal usurper, an unlawful pretender, an unqualified imposter …” the complaint states. “(She) submits that she cannot lawfully act under his authority, but that she is being forced to do so without any opportunity or remedial avenue whatsoever.”

Why can’t people tell the truth? Just say you don’t want to go to Afghanistan and want conscientious objector status.. instead of creating a bs smokescreen.

Say what?

Here’s a copy of the suit http://www.scribd.com/doc/19425272/RHODES-v-McDONALD-1-COMPLAINT-filed-by-Connie-Rhodes-against-all-defendants

The claim that President Obama isn’t legitimate is really a throw-away contention at the end of a rather developed argument about the unconstitutionality of our present false war.

Bush and Cheney must be tried and fried for 9/11. That “Reichstag Fire” led to the oil grab and restarting the Afghan heroin trade.

“Justice, justice” must we pursue, the “evil is swept from the land.”

Is our Armed Forces to be organized thuggery? There is no Declaration of War yet Americans are dying. We, the sovereign People, must not permit one drop of our blood to be shed in unrighteousness.

Obama is a good man but the guns which killed John and Martin to send us to die for the pope in Vietnam have yet to be silenced.

I find this odd, especially considering that the war is Bush’s war and not Obama’s war. Obama is just trying to clean up Bush’s mess. Also, if you join the Army, you should expect to be deployed–it’s part of the job. If you don’t wanna be deployed, then don’t join the Army!

“that” evil is swept from our land

Refusing to acknowledge evil doesn’t make it go away…it just leads to greater injustice and a bigger price to pay later, for all.

Coward!!! You have served as an officer in the military and took an oath to protect the constitution of the US. As a former officer, I am offended by your actions. The military should make you pay back every dime you have earned while in the military as well as funds used to pay for your college education.

This individual should be stripped of their rank, court martial for derelict, and kicked out of the military. In addition, for everyone that feels they cannot respect the Chief Officer should be discharged ASAP. This is a poor excuse for a coward (if it not my way, I want play mentality). The military has no place for this type of revoke in behavior.

This article needs and begs for more details of the “military” background, experience and accomplishments of this captain – she needs to spend considerable time in the post stockade and then discharged dishonorably. What a disgrace ?

Birthers are basically anti-American. They will grasp at any figment of someone’s imagination not to recognize the duly elected President. Here is a fact, not an imagination. Obama could have been born on Mars and he would still be a natural born citizen, so long as his mother was a U.S. citizen. People can derive citizenship from their parents as well as from being born in the U.S. How do you think all of the children born to military members abroad (including John McCain!) are U.S. citizens at birth? It is not because they are born on a military base, it is because their parents are U.S. citizens. And one U.S. citizen parent is enough to transmit citizenship. So, Obama could have been born in Kenya, Indonesia, or on the Moon, and he would still be a natural born citizen…and thus be eligible to be President. Throw the guys in Leavenworth and throw away the keys.

It’s the right of every American to file a (seemingly) frivolous lawsuit, HOWEVER, unless and until one or more of the allegations in the complaint are PROVEN, and subsequently RELIEVES Captain Rhodes of her obligation to the military, she must perform her duties.

Period. She signed on the dotted line.

WHY is the AJC is the only newspaper in this country to publish this non-story? This story in not in the Washington Post, NY Times or the Chicago Tribune. Newspapers have a responsibility to report “news” not feed into the right wing propaganda. The greater Altanta metropolitan area needs another newspaper to report accurate and factual news worthy stories. The entire AJC board of directors need to resign effective immediately.

“I don’t like my new boss, so I’m not going to work anymore.” That’s basically what she’s saying. Sorry lady, but you should not have joined the army if your participation was so conditional. I’m a little bit more nervous today knowing people like her are protecting our country.

leave the woman alone. I’m sure she became a regular Army officer because she was under the impression that National Guard and Army Reserve units were to fight America’s wars. Seeking the comfort and security of the National Guard (Bush, Quayle, et al) is SO 1960’s. If anything, this story is a black eye for the G.I Jane crowd. My advice? Resign your commission and get a job with Blackwater… If you’re going to Afghanistan, you might as well “get paid”.

If remember the oath I took when I joined the army May 1974 it was to obey the commander in chief(the president)of the United States of America as well as defend the constitution. Since she/he both went against the oath by disobeying they should both receive dishonorable discharges. They did not own up to the contract they signed. Like it or not if Obama was not the president legally, he would not be in the office. Both are loony toons to think our government is stupid and incompetent to just put any Joe in the white house. Give our intelligence a little more credit than that. So bascily they are calling every one that voted bi-polar. Oh well, this isnt even news worthy.

It’s amazing to me that we have people protecting our country who are so ignorant! I guess they’ll volunteer for service as long as the person calling the shots look like them. Even if he did run the country like he was slightly retarded. But let an educated, hard working, self-made Harvard grad, who happens to have some African American blood in his veins, step up to the plate and now he’s not qualified and not an American. Amazing!

WCJ, yes, there is a very vocal minority of conservatives that are so insanely blind with rage at Obama that they will do or say anything to dismiss him or anything he has to say. They do not want him to succeed at anything and will do anything stop him even to the detriment of our country. Right or wrong be damned. It’s ignorant and sad really.

I agree the birthers are a fringe movement. But is it too much to ask for the original birth certificate? It would stop these individuals from claiming he in not the President. Is he hiding something?
