Yet another Army officer disputes legitimacy of Obama presidency
It’s time to wonder whether the following has become a substitute for the old Section 8 filing.
This from today’s Columbus Ledger-Enquirer:
An Army captain fighting deployment to Afghanistan has challenged the legitimacy of Barack Obama’s presidency in a federal complaint filed this month, and has employed attorney Orly Taitz — a national figure in the “birther” movement — to represent her.
The complaint of Capt. Connie Rhodes, filed Friday in the Columbus division of U.S. District Court, is similar to the July 8 suit filed by Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook, who sought conscientious objector status and a temporary injunction. Taitz represents both.
Judge Clay Land, who will hear Rhodes’ case, tossed out Cook’s case in July. Land said the judicial branch shouldn’t inject itself into “political disputes” and shouldn’t get involved in hypothetical debates that haven’t yet become actual legal disputes.
In the newest case:
“Plaintiff … submits and charges that the current de facto president is an illegal usurper, an unlawful pretender, an unqualified imposter …” the complaint states. “(She) submits that she cannot lawfully act under his authority, but that she is being forced to do so without any opportunity or remedial avenue whatsoever.”

I find this odd, especially considering that the war is Bush’s war and not Obama’s war. Obama is just trying to clean up Bush’s mess. Also, if you join the Army, you should expect to be deployed–it’s part of the job. If you don’t wanna be deployed, then don’t join the Army!

Birthers are basically anti-American. They will grasp at any figment of someone’s imagination not to recognize the duly elected President. Here is a fact, not an imagination. Obama could have been born on Mars and he would still be a natural born citizen, so long as his mother was a U.S. citizen. People can derive citizenship from their parents as well as from being born in the U.S. How do you think all of the children born to military members abroad (including John McCain!) are U.S. citizens at birth? It is not because they are born on a military base, it is because their parents are U.S. citizens. And one U.S. citizen parent is enough to transmit citizenship. So, Obama could have been born in Kenya, Indonesia, or on the Moon, and he would still be a natural born citizen…and thus be eligible to be President. Throw the guys in Leavenworth and throw away the keys.

If remember the oath I took when I joined the army May 1974 it was to obey the commander in chief(the president)of the United States of America as well as defend the constitution. Since she/he both went against the oath by disobeying they should both receive dishonorable discharges. They did not own up to the contract they signed. Like it or not if Obama was not the president legally, he would not be in the office. Both are loony toons to think our government is stupid and incompetent to just put any Joe in the white house. Dave is correct, with one minor caveat. The American citizen parent of a baby born outside of the United States must present the proper documentation to the nearest American Embassy or Consulate to validate the citizenship of his/her offspring. If validated, the offspring will be issued a U.S. passport for re-entry to the CONUS. I voted for Obama with the belief that he was the best candidate. I have been mostly satisfied with his performance. The fact remains that it does NOT matter where the man was born. His mother was a U.S. citizen which automatically makes him a citizen!
