Paul Broun was only ‘one thin door’ away from….

This morning, before his 10 a.m. town hall on health care reform in Oconee County, U.S. Rep. Paul Brown (R-Athens) put a call into radio host Glenn Beck, to discuss his thoughts on an America that’s careening toward dictatorship.

The YouTube clip has already been posted:

At one point, the topic of discussion was liberal violence that’s been ignored by the mainstream media — whose adoration of Obama, says Broun, is one of the key ingredients of the coming totalitarianism:

Beck:…There was some violence. A guy had his finger bitten off by a supporter of Obama care.

Broun: Glenn, this morning in the Athens Banner-Herald, the editorial talks about possible violence at my town hall meeting. I’m sitting just one thin door away from a meeting hall where I’m holding a town hall meeting.

We have had information that Obama folks are busing people in here to disrupt our town hall meeting.

Quite a few Democrats did show up. No buses mentioned. But according to Blake Aued’s blow-by-blow account of the event, posted by the ABH, all was peaceable. And everyone left with all the fingers they walked in with.

I’m so embarrassed that this guy is our Congressman. What a nut! Will Bob Smith or somebody half decent please run against this sorry excuse for a US Representative?

I have a friend who works on Capitol Hill for another Republican Congressman and he says that they all know Paul Broun is a nutcase. The problem is that in the last election, that Barry Fleming guy ran such a poor campaign against him that most folks think Broun can’t be defeated now. I’d rather have a conservative Democrat in the mold of Sam Nunn that this wild, unpredictable attention getter.

He is my congressman and he is much better than either of our Socialist Senators.

I apologize to the entire country! Even though I didn’t vote for him, he represents us Georgians. Let’s get this nut out of Washington!!!

Surely we are not the only ones who think this! We should come together and find someone to run against this clown.

Paul Broun, you are invited to come over to my place for prayer and pie. Ditto for you, Churchill’s Mom. If I were single, you would definitely be in my black book. Paul Broun is a man of honor, principle and integrity. I bet a bunch of Obama’s thugs are ready to attack Mr. Broun.

Bill, Mtman + Churchill’s Mom, you cannot be serious. Broun is an embarrassment to the nation.

Broun doesn’t need to be attacked; his mouth does it for him!

Broun is not conservative

Bill, Mtman & Churchill’s Mom must be pot smokers. That’s why they like this Congressman who voted in favor pot smoking. If you support Paul Broun please don’t call yourself conservative because you are fooling yourself. Anyway, this is not even about liberals vs. conservatives… this is a 70% Republican District that should produce a thoughtful, reasonable GOP house member. Instead we have this nut.

Bill White: “If I were single, you would definitely be in my black book.”

Bill White, how can you be so dense as to not know G-d can see your adulterous spirit? You’re married with children and you harbor such a view? Do you think expressing such “harmless” thoughts makes you seem less gay?

I did not say I liked him, just that he is less bad than Saxby & Johnny.

Before calling Broun a nut, research his speaking points, I believe you’ll find he is being truthful on almost everything he talks about. I used to be skeptical of his comments until I started doing research. I believe his problem is presentation, not what he’s referring too!

“I believe you’ll find he is being truthful on almost everything he talks about.”

Technically truthful, perhaps, but wildly off the mark with his interpretations. But Georgia has long been known for sending nutty congressmen to Washington. Remember Larry McDonald? Cynthia McKinney was as bad on the other side. And now, Paul Broun. His problem isn’t presentation, it’s paranoia. Thanks, Paul Broun, for continuing a proud Georgia tradition of crazy…your daddy would be appalled.

And to think that I had the nerve to put this wing nut’s sign in my front yard in Oconee County right next to my Obama-Biden sign!!! And to also think that he had the nerve to campaign in African American churches. . . boy he sure ran the Okie Doke on us black folk!!! But not again, . . . not again . . . I may even run against him as a moderate/conservative democrat . . .

For those of you who may not click on the link to the Banner-Herald’s editorial: It’s important for you to understand that the editorial only “talks about possible violence at (Broun’s) town hall meeting” in terms of noting the potential for people on BOTH sides of the issue to let emotion outrun reason. The editorial urged people on BOTH sides to “respect … those who may not share their viewpoints.”

I should know; I wrote the editorial in my capacity as the Banner-Herald’s editorial page editor.

We want Paul Broun to stay in Congress, the more GOP nutcases the better. Broun and idiots like Joe Wilson do a great job of marginalizing the GOP with independents.

Keep up the good work.
