Gov. Sonny Perdue has apparently called off the invasion of Tennessee — at least for now.
An Associated Press article on Mississippi’s fight over water with the Tennessee city of Memphis includes these paragraphs:
The Mississippi claim isn’t the only the only water dispute along Tennessee’s southern border. Georgia has been agitating to rectify a 19th century surveying error that mistakenly placed Georgia’s northern line just short of the Tennessee River.
Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue [said] he isn’t yet prepared to take that dispute to court or launch formal negotiations.
“I don’t consider that an option for a near-term option,” Perdue said. “I do think it’s an appropriate question for Tennessee and Georgia to address at some point in time.”
The Legislature gave Perdue permission to pursue negotiations with our neighbor to the north in 2008. Nashville has rebuffed all overtures.
Apparently, the governor has decided instead on a flanking movement to the west. Good thinking.

I’m not sure whether the militia are relieved or disappointed.

I say we go ahead and start siphoning. Now that the Carmak Stone is gone, how can they say it’s not our land? Are they going to send a surveyor out? Ha!
