Soccer Mom needs some new glasses and a hearing aid. I've worked with multi cultural staff for years and it always amazes some of the minorities when I tell them some of my stories about poor service, questioning staff, being pulled over, etc. They often are completely surprised because they think it only happens to them and or their race - remember the world rotates around the sun, not around you and or your particular race. Also, her comment regarding Obama was telling as well - what was it, over 90% of blacks voted for BO? If that had happened with whites, 1) BO wouldn't be president and 2) the liberal papers would be filled with how racist the voters were. Regardless of if BO will perform well (doesn't look good so far) his election was an example of a fairly racist vote because he wasn't quaified. The press didn't call him out on it any more than they'll call out these two supposed professors (can't call them teachers due to what they evidently want to teach).

No race or region of the country (or world) has a monoply on racism. CAU will most likely do nothing because far too many in this country do not react to Black on White racism. I'm not one for firing everyone that makes mistakes but CAU should do something as leaders and supposed developers of people in order to show this is wrong and call their reasoning and rational as BS. I too travel around this great country and as a native am sadened by the fact that a large part of the black population in Atlanta is more racist than in other areas (certainly we have our white racist too). However, the issues will never be solved when one group is allowed to be openly racist while another can't even speak freely without concern over the PC police. Black leaders (where are you?) have got to stand up and fight this but they are so wrapped up in supporting their own color skin that they miss the opportunities to do the right thing. S. Franklin (and I'm necessarily a SF fan) said what others need to step up and say (good job SF). Come on Black leaders - step up to the challenge! Do what is right no matter what the color skin is.

Go to the front page and see the "white" police beating of a black man. The Mayor controls the city's police. Yep, I can just see the clean up around Atlanta already

I am disgusted with the racial behavior of both blacks and whites. After 40 years in this city, where is the progress amongst races? As a white woman, I am ashamed of the racists here on this blog. What an example of unity for our city.

Bah.

These Clark University professors should be fired: they give no good to this general argument.

I am surprised that they shuffled around their original statement: the sole purpose for this memo was to call for blacks to unite to defeat a white (Norwood) candidate. All else is padding.

IF this had been "rally around to defeat a black candidate by whites" you would hear the screams up to Alaska. Yet, so far in this situation, black leadership avoids the issues when it's their race who slings the mud. I would hope some black leadership, somewhere....with a national voice would come out and say something about this. There is a hell of a lot more than a mayor's race at stake here. Say that people (whites and others) will remember this mud for a long time and perhaps will start acting on these 'insults'???

The dry-up and concern for black poverty issues, charities, etc....is something that happens whether people acknowledge it or not. You can get your face slapped just so much before you turn away and close the door. You can be called "whitey" just so many times before you dismiss the people doing so...and unfortunately, some will dismiss the entire race.

Why this constant double standard? This liberal gal has become very disenchanted with the behavior of blacks over the years: black 'leadership' has little to say about crime in general....except when they are hit like Mitchell, and who can forget Lewis/Young/Franklin's dogs and fire hoses message against Eaves a few years ago.

They....and this, stinks. And we are supposed to take these people seriously?

They are racists. Period.

I wasn't that hot on Norwood (and I've known her for years) ...wasn't clear WHY she would want to take on this city who hates with such a passion, but now I hope she wins.

She hasn't fallen into the racist mud. When I saw that Young signed on Reed's campaign, it queered me (that fire hoses, etc radio spot) and Lisa Borders?? She is a tool of the downtown developers...has been and always will be.

And what is this garbage that Borders will at least attract the white developers downtown???

Why is it that immigrant Asians, Spanish, Islanders, Blacks blacks born in Africa, and other minority races are able to succeed in Atlanta, while "African Americans" still need help?

The City Does not have enough money because of years of poor management by the black Mayors. Shirley has done a decent job of cleaning up the mess, but "Black Atlanta" cannot balance a money sheet or manage things.
If Atlanta is a "Black City, then wouldn't white people be the minority?
