A quintet of governors looking for a comeback

At Real Clear Politics, Mike Memoli counts Roy Barnes among five former governors now looking to get their old jobs back.

Other than the Georgia race:

— In Oregon, John Kitzhaber (D), who left office in 2003, is set to file the paperwork for a new term next year;

— In California, Jerry Brown (D), now in his third or fourth political life, is out to replace Ahnold;

— In Iowa, Terry Branstad (R) has set himself an October deadline to determine if he’ll against current Gov. Chet Culver (D).

— In Maryland, Robert Ehrlich (R) is keeping open the possibility of a re-match with Gov. Martin O’Malley (D), who beat him in 2006.

This does not include former governor Eliot Spitzer, whom the New York Post says:

… has been privately talking with friends about a possible comeback, and is considering a run for statewide office next year….

Less than 18 months after he left Albany in a prostitution scandal, Spitzer has held informal discussions in recent weeks about the possibility of making a bid for state comptroller or the US Senate seat currently held by Kirsten Gillibrand, sources said.

The Post headline? “Second Coming,” of course.

Yeah, Spitzer can run on a double bill with Larry Craig and Tom Foley, just as soon as they are all healed by Rev. Haggard.

Is Roy Barnes going to get the support of the confederate flag guys?
After Sonny told them one thing & did the opposite, just maybe they will give ole Roy a look.

Uh No….what’s the big deal with education? You’re using computer software operating system built by a high school grad. I’m typing on a computer purchased from a high school grad (Dell).

Big deal.

Though he neither needs nor wants the job, Georgia needs Max Cleland as Governor of Georgia. Those who are his friends and supporters, please convince him to submit to a draft. The rest of us, let’s get busy and make one of our own, a hero and man of integrity, our governor!

Cleland for Governor!

The flaggers were so effective in defeating Sonny during his run for re-election.
