An actor’s talking point: ‘Is Obama creating civil war?’

On Saturday, every Republican candidate worth his/her salt will be in Gwinnett County to attend the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Freedom Rally with Sean Hannity — and, no doubt, a resurgent Ralph Reed, founder of the FFC.

Afterwards, at the nearby Gwinnett Arena, Hannity will host his Freedom Concert, featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, Charlie Daniels, Lee Greenwood, and Oliver North.

Tickets to the concert range between $46 and $136.

According to today’s Washington Times, also attending the concert will be Hollywood veteran Jon Voight, who may repeat what he told the newspaper:

“There’s a real question at stake now. Is President Obama creating a civil war in our own country?” Mr. Voight [asked.]

“We are witnessing a slow, steady takeover of our true freedoms. We are becoming a socialist nation, and whoever can’t see this is probably hoping it isn’t true. If we permit Mr. Obama to take over all our industries, if we permit him to raise our taxes to support unconstitutional causes, then we will be in default. This great America will become a paralyzed nation.

“The real truth is that the Obama administration is professional at bullying, as we have witnessed with ACORN at work during the presidential campaign. It seems to me they are sending down their bullies to create fist fights among average American citizens who don’t want a government-run health care plan forced upon them,” Mr. Voight says. “So I ask again. Is President Obama creating a civil war in our own country?”

I don’t agree that Obama is citing civil war but he certainly is moving this country closer to socialism than it already was. He has indeed called out his bully boys (Unions & ACORN) to go after seniors who oppose his healthcare proposal. Whenever I see politicians in a big hurry to help me, it always raises a red flag. I think everyone agrees there is plenty to do to fix our health care system. But a good, honest debate is what we need to do first …… not ram a bill through Congress in two weeks that either no one has read or no one understands. Obama needs to slow down, listen to the people, and have an honest debate. If he’s not willing to do that, then maybe Voight shouldn’t be discounted so quickly.

One just needs to read this blog to see there is no greater proof that the centralized federal power, which first took root in public education, has succeeded in draining our country of free men and women. Imagine free people looking to the federal government for handouts like this. Imagine intelligent people blaming Bush for 9-11. Can anyone imagine this occurring in a nation of free men and women who understood that their intrinsic personal value rests in their Creator’s hands not Obama’s.

Unfortunately public schools take their direction from Washington’s affirmative action mindset. They have reduced individual greatness because it is simply easier to make everyone the same when there are LOW STABDARDS.

Is Jon Voight right, simply do the math. How many people think I should pay for them vs. How many people think they should work to their highest standard and provide value for themselves.

Clearly Obama is trying to force issues this nation was not founded upon. Clearly his ACORN bullies have been pushing around people at these town meetings. Clearly the media has supported him. All the while the national debt just went to 9 Trillion dollars from 7 when Obama was inaugurated.

We woke up one morning and found this 1,000 page monster on our doorstep and now he’s beating his way right through our front door. Who came up with these ideas? Why are other common sense approaches not even mentioned? Our economy is in shambles. We’re not up to our necks in debt, we’re sitting on the bottom of the deep end of the pool! Now is the time to set priorities, watch every penny and plan carefully for the future. No wonder people are freaking out at town halls.

The thing that annoys me the most about the Obama ideology is the way it denigrates people who disagree with it as hateful and selfish people who aren’t compassionate.
There is no more important duty for a society than to help those who are struggling. But that is the duty of society, not the federal government – there’s a big difference. In a free society we all do our part to help as we see fit, not as the government dictates. We give of our proceeds to the limit that we can, not what the government dictates.
The government should do everything possible to tear down obstacles so that our free society can help those who need it most; not simply pass out massive amounts of grant money with abandon.
I believe that allowing the government to simply take our money from our paychecks and take care of society’s needs is akin to parlors full of rich people writing checks to people who bring “all those ugly pictures” for some cause or another. They simply want to write a check and let someone else make the problem go away. That’s not America.
“America” is the people that were honored at the All Star game. It is all the volunteers who see a need and make sure something is done. This is what makes us strong. This is what makes us who we are.
Each day we move further from that way of thinking. The federal government slowly assumes more and more paternalism over the people. We’ve lost our sense of community.
This time, the president startled us with a massive bill that makes us think about who we are as a nation. I think many woke up and realized they don’t like what they see.

Remember, last time this nation was faced with an overbearing and oppressive national government, only ten percent took up the fight. it’s always been that way. People who want Nationalized healthcare aren’t looking at the facts—except the one that says they get something else for free. For the most part, they’ll be to lazy to fight on one side or the other. Leaving the bon-bons and t remote in the recliner would be just too painful.

I don’t blame Obama exclusively for bringing this nation to the brink of disaster; it’s been a long train of abuses during which we, the people chose to do nothing. We went exactly along with the Declaration of Independence.

Obama wants to be like Hugo Chavez and if the Dems keep both the House and Senate in 2010, don’t be shocked if he abolishes the 22nd amendment so he can seek a 3rd term in 2016 and beyond.

Bloomberg did this similar earlier this year when he pimped the NYC City Council to extend his tenure for 4 more years and Jerry Brown is likely on his way back to the California Governor’s Mansion for a 3rd term in 2010.

Voight does have a point here, besides I did NOT vote for Obama last year due to his ties to Rev. Wright.

Yes, I do believe Obama is creating the conditions where we could head to civil war. Seriously. Consider some things outside the box. The takeover of businesses, industries, and the rights of individuals IS happening right now, and at an escalated rate. We have a sitting President who at this moment has every intention of taking over 1/6th of the national economy via the current healthcare bill, and much, much more. This program is not something that can just be dumped once a new President comes in, either.

We as a nation are having to seriously fight to keep our fleeting freedoms intact. Think about it. This fight for universal healthcare has little to do with offering all Americans affordable healthcare, but has everything to do with giving the federal government ultimate power and control over the citizens of the United States and taking over an inappropriately large portion of our economy. The proposed healthcare program is the largest and most expensive in the history of the United States, and would give the federal government sweeping powers that it currently does not have…and per the 10th Amendment of the Constitution, is not LEGAL to have.

If Obama was serious about healthcare reform, he would start with the obvious…do away with the wastes and inefficiencies in the current system. I believe that medical Tort Reform is the obvious place to start. While pundits say it wouldn’t do enough, it would certainly make a good dent and is an excellent starting place. Secondly, medical Tax Reform is desperately needed, too, and would help save a large amount of money. Then, Obama should get after the “trilogy” government programs, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Fixing those programs needs to happen now, because they are about to be insolvent. Keeping those programs in mind, how can anyone buy the argument that the federal government would do a good job of managing the largest government program in history when it cannot manage the programs that are in place now?

Further, in 7 short months, Obama and the federal government managed to gain control of the banking, mortgage, and auto industries. I’m still astonished at the amazing speed of that takeover…without a shot being fired. Then the administration kicked CEO’s out of select companies and replaced them with government appointed executives…AND determined their compensation! That kind of action is more than just worrisome.

Let’s continue. How about the appointment of a whole bunch of “czars” that are only accountable to the President, and are appointed without congressional approval, and who have a massive amount of power over many policy decisions within the United States. Many of these policy decisions under 10th Amendment of the Constitution belong to the states, not the federal government. We the voters did not put these czars there, and frankly, we have no power to remove them. Aren’t you getting worried yet about what’s going on?

What about the emasculation of a government agency (CIA) that operates separately from the control of the White House? It should raise more than just an eyebrow that via Attorney General Eric Holder, an interrogation unit was formed under the National Security Council which reports directly to the President. In essence, this action puts the CIA out of business, period. Under this current climate, can you imagine any CIA officer would truly follow what they believe is in the best interest of the United States? No! They now have to worry that they could be imprisoned. This whole thing with the CIA is not about investigating and prosecuting wrongdoing. It’s about emasculating and diminishing. It’s about breaking down our security. And it’s all politically motivated.

Then, let’s talk about Cap and Trade, yet another debacle looming on the horizon, and meant to allow sweeping federal government control over yet another of our citizens’ basic needs…access to affordable energy. Are you ready to pay $4,$6 or even more per gallon for gas…immediately? Remember before he was elected, Obama said he would BANKRUPT all companies that did not provide clean energy. Gee, did he even think that we may need some time to figure out how to GET clean energy before instituting massive changes in our current system? Anything made with petoleum products, or any industry that is supported by petroleum products will no longer be affordable. Talk about rationing? Well, we very well may see rationing of food products and clothing as shipping would become outrageously expensive. Do you like having a roof over your head? Well, if your home should suffer the misfortune of a damaging hailstorm, you might might not be able to afford to have your roof replaced, because roofing materials are made from petroleum products. Think your insurance will cover it? Sweeping changes in the insurance industry are happening right now, and you’ll likely pay a large tax just to replace your roof. Let me tell you, even without federal government interference, the cost for roofing materials has doubled in the past year alone. I know, because my business has to deal with this issue every day. Anything made with plastic or rubber will skyrocket too, since they are made with petroleum products. Are you ready to pay double the current amount in order to heat your home? And what if you can’t pay? Well, you’ll either decide not to heat your home any longer, or take a handout from the federal government, for which you will pay in a BIG way. Making a decision to not heat your home may be okay for those living in southern locales, but that would not be possible for people living in places like Minneapolis, or Chicago.

I could continue, but you get the point. And I won’t even start with the issues surrounding the deficit. We the American people are under attack by the current administration. Does it give you pause that the sitting President knows much about the Constitution since he taught Constitutional Law? He’s already said that our Founding Fathers were wrong about the Constitution, and that it incorrectly kept the government from DOING things. Well, he is certainly keeping his promise to change that! The federal government IS moving…and quickly…further into areas that our Constitution does not allow. Will that be enough to cause a civil war?? I never thought I’d say so in my life, but I believe it is very possible. President Ronald Reagan said it best, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.” I believe that generation is NOW.

This event was powerful, patriotic, and emotional. Mr. Voight is a genuinely nice guy. Attacking someone like that because of their “family issues” isn’t something that intelligent people do. Besides, isn’t Barack Obama the result of a “broken family”? Isn’t Hillary Clinton still with the man that had an affair with a 20something year old intern in OUR oval office? While their child still lived with them? Don’t you think Chelsea was hurt by the whole incident? Get real, people. Mr. Voight is only human – as are the rest of us. You can’t judge his patriotism by his family problems. Didn’t Angelina practically MAKE OUT with her own brother? Her OWN FLESH AND BLOOD? Yeah, I thought so. Get with the program, people. I for one will never speak badly about our dear leader. I will distort the issue and change the subject and blame Bush for everything and I will never address the issue or topic being discussed. Look, I’m a fourteen year old girl and I feel I have more sense then half of the American population. Please open up your eyes. President Obama isn’t doing what he does for our country, he’s doing it for himself. You need to become less prosistanst and less convinced that everything Obama does is right and civil. Think about what I’ve said because I am part of the future, I am one of the people that is going to have to live in the future and what is happening now will effect me and my future children.
