Obama extends Secret Service protection for Cheney

This posted by the New York Daily News this morning:

Former Vice President Dick Cheney’s Secret Service protection has been extended for at least another six months, beginning Tuesday.

Normally, ex-veeps only get six months of protection at taxpayer expense. But Cheney asked for an extension, and President Obama – whom Cheney has excoriated in several interviews since leaving office – recently signed off….

If the Obama administration hadn’t gone along with Cheney’s request, he would have been forced to hire his own security agents – or go without.

Cheney’s friends have said he has become more concerned about his privacy and personal safety in recent years.

Why doesn’t Blackwater send over a personal security task force? They got a hefty sum when the US Treasury was being emptied into the pockets of Cheney’s friends via no-bid, cost-plus contracts that we, the taxpayers, had no right to ask questions about. Hasn’t he earned the favor? Just sayin’.

Proven by “The New Pearl Harbor,” http://www.angelfire.com/biz/hankramey/The%20New%20Pearl%20Harbor.pdf – by a scholar of unimpeached integrity, Emeritus Professor David Ray Griffin, PhD, to have committed 9/11, through which over 3,000 innocents were immolated on American soil, Cheney does have reason to beg for this extension of SS protection.

How much easier life would have been had he simply lived it beyond reproach in righteous service to the American People and Constitution?

This might be the best decision this installed-president ever made. Protecting Mr. Cheney is worth every penny of our tax dollars. Mr. Cheney kept us safe for 7 years. It’s our duty to return the favor. God Bless Richard Cheney.

You mean Cheney the war criminal is afraid for his safety?

Gosh, I guess some Americans really WERE awake during the past eight years… Cheney should be skulking in alleyways and begging in soup kitchens for what he did to this country.

Nothing about this makes sense. Totally bewildering, other than it serving as a “media piece”…and to what purpose? hmmm. Having a Secret Service “tail”, only keeps Cheney in Obama’s “radar”. And yet “Cheney asked”? Again, why? Cheney has all access to the WhiteHouse, the Pentagon…everything, unfettered, why keep the tail? Cheney even has, at his disposal, bodyguards that rival the Mossad.

Bill White… do you really have to add your 2 cents to every single post on here? You must not have much of a life.

Dear Jordan-I do have a life — a Christ-centered life. My plumbing work keeps me busy, but I always have time to visit this site in my tool shed. My aunt lives up near Brasstown so I’m always checking on what’s going on around her and I fear for not only her future, but everyone’s future. You see, we are being taken down a path to Socialism and higher taxes. I feel that I’m on a crusade to speak up. For years I didn’t do that because I was on the drink until I spun my F-150 into a Mississippi ditch one night. All of that changed. Ever since that night, I cleaned up my act. I found God, Jesus, technical school, got married and have two boys-Dale and Kyle. So you see, I do have quite a life. Now, I’m off to Mrs. Carlson’s house where I’m putting in a new copper line that feeds to her house. What are you doing? I’m expanding the economy.

Well, I guess that makes Mr. White BETTER than the rest of us then. Glad that’s settled. Perhaps Mr. White alone should decide how our tax dollars are spent, and on which people or programs they’d be utterly wasted. You know, when he has TIME for such trivial efforts. Thanks in advance!!!

How about doing the right thing and keep Americans safe. First thing Obama did when he took office was give away top secrets and procedures to the enemy. That same act done by anyone else would be considered treason and punished by life or worse. Its ok though because it was Obama. That act in itself put America in danger and the house an senate know it. But its ok until when? Until we get nuked or attacked. Its not ok.

I would much rather pay for ex president and vice presidents security then pay for the 100% pensions of those who serve in the house and senate. Even for just one day. Yes, 100%. I dont know anyone who gets or deserves that.

@ Chris Broe lol, good one, @ Corey very true. Cheney is a disgrace to this country. All I can say is that the President is a bigger man that me. Cheney broke every rule in the book, all in the name of “protecting the country.” He doesn’t love this country all he loves is himself and being right, he would love to see something happen to this country just to say I told you so to President Obama, how patriotic is that?!?!?! I have nothing against Christians, b/c I am one, but sometimes these neo cons give religion and Christianity a bad name.

Cheney can have all the around-the-clock protection he needs courtesy of the Federal Government, in a Federal Pen where he belongs!

Dick Cheney? Yawn. I find the fried okra blog today on the AJC of much more interest than news about the self centered right wing fraud. I hopes he fades into oblivion.

Proof positive that the Obama political types still see Cheney as a major problem for the Republican future. They do not want anything to happen to him.

Tricky Dick needs all the help he can get and he had to ask for it at our taxpayer expense. In a tight budget is this warranted or should we just add to the deficit.

@billwhite Deny health care access to 70 million uninsured Americans, but give Dick protection and his buddies unlimited healthcare and jobs at Halliburton is OK? Bill, you’re insane! You’re bought and paid for by the defunct Bush/Cheney administration. Why does Dick need so much protection? Is he going to shoot himself?

cheney should (bush & clinton and all previous presidents as well) pay full price for protection. Plus, all perks should be taxed and a minimum pension granted for only 4 years once out of office.

“henry davis,” Rather than demean yourself with blatant lies and “ad hominem” attack, read the book – click on the link…it’s a free pdf file of a book millions of which were sold for $15 – and tell us with specificity just why Dr. Griffin’s proof of Bush’s and Cheney’s 9/11 treason is in error.

Or, perhaps you, too, are a Toby Keith “fan?”

The name you use is “male.” Try acting like a man and you may become one.

Hey, Bill White, a/k/a Bill The Plumber, did you ever hear Dick Cheney’s response to why he didn’t volunteer to serve in the armed forces during the Vietnam War? His response was, “I had more important things to do with my life.” That’s the kind of response that’s typical for your “hero,” who is nothing more than a yellow-bellied coward. I’m sure if they could speak, those 58,000 or so American warriors who gave their lives fighting another unpopular war would probably say they had more important things to do with their lives. But Cheney thinks it’s okay for someone else’s son, daughter, husband, wife, brother or sister to make the ultimate sacrifice, or for him to personally profit from giving no-bid contracts to his buddies for billions and billions of our tax dollars. He does that so goofs like you will distort Christian values to make it appear his work is supported by God. You are a total fool. You worry more about Communists than what your Christian values ought to direct you toward, like being sure American children don’t go to bed hungry and that they’re given a modicum of health care. You worry more about protecting and worshipping the words of yellow-bellied cowards and “chicken hawks” like Cheney, Sean Vanity, Rush “Pill Popper” Limbaugh, and other facists than you do about the Christ you procalim to believe in.

I’m not a very good Christian, am I?

Why gave Dick Cheney another 6 months of protection? He knew when his protection time would be up! He is still trying to hang around the White House and getting paid by taxpayers. When this 6 months up, will he go for a year? He got money, do like the other ex-vices, pay it yourself !!

I thought you would get a whole lot more secret service protection than that.
Just 6 Months?
For someone like Cheney?!!
