Dad, now 85, left high school early for the U.S. Army, five months before Pearl Harbor.

Though none of them were born in this country, four of the seven Galloway brothers would scatter themselves across the globe during World War II. Dad, an Air Corps mechanic, was the only one to carry a sketchbook.

The cartoonist Bill Mauldin was something of a hero. Lined notebook paper would do in a pinch. Above is a rescued drawing from Dad’s return trip in ‘45. That mountainous lump in the background is the Rock of Gibraltar.

In the upper right hand corner are traces of a laundry list written on the other side — a brief catalog of one young warrior’s requirements for conquering the world: Four undershirts, four shorts, two handkerchiefs, two dress shirts, four pairs of socks, and two coveralls.

Salute your dad today for us, Mr. Galloway. Thank him and his brothers for their service to their adopted country.

True patriots, so unlike the native-born chickenhawks that regularly trash yours and the rest of the AJC blogs with their flag-waving and empty rhetoric.

OH SO TRUE!! Let’s see, we’ll start with gw bush, cheney, then hannity, then limbaugh, then virtually all of the democraps. I think that covers it for now. Remember, everyone I’ve mentioned is either a draft dodger or a military coward!
While most of the walking junk was BBQ’ing today, I actually went and paid respects to the true fallen heroes of this nation.

Memorial Day is once a year, but every time someone voices support for Sarah Palin, another proponent of inbred whitetrash is heard.

SnarkySnark, I, in fact, did. I have pics as well. My garden variety insults, as you call them, still require cognitive thought, something you lack.
