Down-ballot news: Ed Lindsey says no to AG race, but two GOP candidates say yes to contest for ag commissioner

State Rep. Ed Lindsey (R-Atlanta) just put out formal word that he’s decided not to run against Cobb County Commission Chairman Sam Olens in the Republican primary for attorney general.

State Sen. Judson Hill (R-Marietta) has already considered the race, and passed.

Lindsey’s announcement was noticeable for its concise, to-the-point headline: “I like my present political job.”

As have others, the House member cited the current financial situation:

Running for attorney general is very tempting for any lawyer interested in public service, and I can think of no greater professional honor than representing 9 million Georgians as their attorney.

However, Elizabeth and I want to spend more time with our three teenage boys who will leave for college in a couple of years, and like small businessmen all over this state, it is wise for me to keep a close eye on my law practice in these economic times.

Also Tuesday, two Republicans jumped into the race for agriculture commissioner, to replace the retiring Democrat Tommy Irvin.

John Wilkinson, who just retired as the director of agriculture education for the state Department of Education, announced this morning that he’ll be a candidate. His web site is here. State Rep. Michael Harden (R-Toccoa) is listed as a campaign contact.

Gary Black, president of the Georgia Agribusiness Council, also announced that he’s in the race. Black was the GOP nominee in 2006, and took 41 percent of the vote — to Irvin’s 56 percent. Cobb County activist Sheila Brower is heading things up.

Every candidate with an “R” after his or her name is an accomplice to Bush’s and Cheney’s committing 9/11 and must be excluded from holy, elected office. Ed Lindsey’s district has many good and righteous Georgians who need to go to the Fulton County Democratic Party meeting next week and start to work finding a candidate to remove him from office. Ultimately their lives and posterity depend on it.

“Republicans,” the Gay Old Pervert party, are lineal heirs of those who engaged in domestic finance of Hitler and the Holocaust: Prescott Sheldon Bush, et al.

[...] Gary Black, 2006 Republican nominee for Agriculture Commissioner, will again try to unseat Tommy Irvin, who has been Ag Commish since I was born. And I’m getting pretty old. [...]
