I can't believe he is running for governor after trying to keep that teenager in jail for 10 years for doing what a whlole lot of people have done. I will most definitely be voting for his opponent whoever he is!

Thurbert Baker has absolutely no chance with the African American community and ANY BLACK LEADER in the South who comes to support him will be "boo-ed" and will instantly "fall from Grace". Joseph Lowery and Emmanuel Jones and the like are wise in distancing themselves from Thurbert Baker. Hopefully, Andy won't support him either - Mr. Young is wiser than that.

No Thurbert - GA deserves better!

Patman, I agree with you. Thurbert Baker was already on thin ice with me regarding his flip-flopping on the issues, but the Genarlow Wilson case put him in another category - The category of the Jim Crow "Tom".

Baker won't get the White vote either because they don't trust him. I'd like to see him "woo" the rural White folks in southern GA... good luck with that!

It is up to black leaders to ban together and keep him from winning the Dem. primary. Regardless, he doesn't stand a chance in the general election.

Just glad he will no longer be AG. He did enough damage while serving as AG. The next person who is voted Attorney General of Georgia should get in there and CLEAN HOUSE. CLEAN HOUSE!!!

I am a 39 year old Black man and Thurbert Baker could not buy my vote for a million dollars. I'm all for keeping criminals in jail and for the death penalty, which is why I supported him in the past, but his stance on the Genarlow wilson issue killed it for me. wilson was no boy scout but what happened between him and that girl, who CONSENTED, did not warrant the sentence he received. I don't believe for a minute that A.G. Baker was doing what he thought was right or simply "doing his job" but was on a major power trip. To potentially ruin this young man's life (thankfully he's free now and hopefully making better choices) just for some personal agenda is downright sickening and I have lost all respect for Mr Baker for it.

Mr. Baker probably thinks that his stance on the Wilson issue and on the voter ID law will get him the white vote and that simply being black will get him the black vote but he is sadly mistaken on both counts. I don't see him willing this race and if former governor Barnes enters the race, that will really do him in. One more thing, if you're reading this Mr Baker, there's only one black man in the world who speaks for me and that is ME. Emanuel Jones is only one person and he doesn't have nearly as much pull with black individuals as he thinks he does.

Itamazesme - had the flag issue been so big, Purdue would have followed through on his promise and when he didn't, there would have been a HUGE outcry. It would have become an issue in the next election. None of that happened because the flag issue was so minor and unimportant.

BTW - while it's good with me that Barnes got rid of the old flag, did he have to pick one that is so ugly? Pointing to this as a major accomplishment, though, shows how little he actually did for the state.

Other than name recognition, name me one issue that Barnes brings leadership, insight, or promise to our State. Just name one thing that only he can bring to the table. Give me one reason to vote for him over any other talented Democrat out there.

In the most recent election for Governor, the Dem party nominated a failed candidate who had no chance. The man never held a real job, his daddy put in him in elected politics to get him out of the family trucking business, his ex-wives and children were examples of Georgia's worst, he was a lousy campaigner, and he had to plan or vision for the state other than for him to be elected Governor.

The Dems could find an interesting, viable candidate this time or go with the loser with name recognition. I'm hoping they choose to do the former rather than nominate the reject from the nineties.

Liz - you are 100% correct. He's a man who has done the job for which he was elected, even when the Legislature has made his decisions look bad. He enforced a bad law, but it's not his place in his current position to pick and choose which laws to enforce. His role is not to create law, it's to enforce the laws the Legislature enacts.

First of all, Thubert Baker must Understand that He is Free!!!!! He does not need the White Man's Approval to do the right thing. He needs to do the Right thing based on doing what is Right because it is Right and because he said that he knows God and that God is his saviour so, all he needs to do is the Right thing. I am Black and I along with a lot more Blacks will not support him for any office ever again. This is one time I will support anybody else but Thubert Baker. He is a Sell out for Blacks.
