Duty in north Georgia has slowed the Insider down today, but the following paragraph appeared in this morning’s Washington Post report on U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter’s pending retirement:
White House advisers have been drafting lists of potential replacements virtually since Obama took office, and the list is said to also include Stanford University law professor Kathleen M. Sullivan, Kim McLane Wardlaw of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, Michigan Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm and Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears.
Sears has already announced she intends to leave the Georgia bench at the end of her term as chief justice in June. My AJC colleague Bill Rankin has more details here.

Folks, the big Donkey in the room no one is mentioning to fill this vacancy is none other than Hillary. Think about it… four years as Sec of State or a lifetime appointment to the bench.

Now how can any Georgians not support one of their own for such high office. GA would finally, after a long drought, have someone in high office who can make a difference, contrary to many of the elected folks who occupy space there now. But, I bet there will be the naysayers, I hear them coming (hear the hoof beats).

Many years ago when she presided in State Court in Fulton County I was honored with the call to Jury Duty, as representative of the sovereign People, to be elected foreman by my fellow jurors of a case before her.
Justice is present in Atlanta, Fulton County, and Georgia and Leah Sears has been a key part of making that happen. Not everyone everywhere can say the same. We have been blessed and President Obama would do well to put her on the Supreme Court.
With five, of nine, Roman Catholic, the same cohesive bloc’s vote which fraudulently made Hitler’s banker’s draft-dodging closet-queen grandson our president, the main thing is to choose a jurist of probity, an American Patriot, to replace David Souter.
Leah Sears is qualified.

Friends,
As I typically only comment on Mr. Wooten’s blog I feel drawn to this announcement. The senate will vet me, or my good friend Ragnar, before our own Chief Justice Sears. If for no other reason of fear that she would want to leave in four to eight years to do something else. She is just filler to show depth of character when President Obama historically brings either an American Indian, Asian, or Hispanic [mentioned only in alphabetic order] to a seat at the table that really matters in the United States.

Well it would be good to have a Black Supreme Court Justice. Clarence Thomas, who lied his way past righteous Anita Hill to be confirmed, then violated his oath and the Constitution by voting in the illegal Roman Catholic ‘Bush v. Gore’ majority to cheat homosexual draft-dodger Bush into office to commit 9/11, does not qualify as Black.

Anybody get a load of the Michigan Governor? I was born in Michigan, in the town where they make Cheerios and Frosted Mini Wheats. Let me tell you, this gal is a spoonful of nicely-sweet. Yet she’s tough enough to snap, crackle, and pop-a-cap in yo’ass.
Adorn the supreme court. Appoint Jennifer Granholm.

I’ve never heard any explanation of her decision to resign from the Ga Supreme Court, and would think that would have to bear on considering her approintment to the US Supreme Court.
Morover, aren’t/shouldn’t Ga Democrats be puzzled and troubled about the timing of her announcement and upcoming resignation?
