Republicans and Democrats weren’t the only ones active this weekend. About 70 Libertarians gathered at a Norcross hotel for their state convention.
One of the speakers was Eric Von Haessler of Rock 100.5 FM’s “The Regular Guys,” who continued to drop hints that he is considering a 2010 run for the U.S. Senate. Heck, if Al Franken can do it.
Von Haessler, describing himself as a “refugee” from the Republican party, wrote a check for lifetime Libertarian membership “to a party I always should have been a member of.”
“We can win. We can win right now, so long as we speak clearly,’ Von Haessler said in a (shakey, handheld) video posted at JasonPye.com. Much of Von Haessler’s emphasis was on scrapping the tax code — and telling Fair Taxes and Flat Taxers to end their Big Endian/Little Endian squabbles.

Eric VH is getting my money and my vote. As a long-time Regular Guys listener, he is probably the brightest, most well-informed person on radio in Atlanta. If you call into their show, you had better have your facts in order as he knows what he is talking about. He does not offend anyone; rather, I think he is able to bring a lot of people “into the light” as his talking points are well-supported and focus on very basic concepts. Anyone with the initials EVH is alright in my book (I still love you Eddie, but you jumped the shark with Gary Cherone…).

Maybe when the Libertarians get off the leagalize hard drugs and open borders, I’ll take them seriously. What we really need is a CONSERVATIVE party!

Being from Augusta, I don’t know the guy. But, I can tell you this, I’m no longer a rebublican. Those weenies squandered every bit of support they’ll ever get from me. I know, I know, the democrat party nominated Mcain’t by crossing over, but I wasn’t particularly thrilled with the rest of the group either(Huckabee is a good guy). If it wasn’t going to cost us our nation, I’d sit back and laugh as this teleprompter boob makes a mess of his party and the country, but there is TOO MUCH at stake!

If he is serious than he needs to start standing up to that Slimebaugh Wannabee partner of his. I used to listen to the Regular Guys every morning but ever since the election, Wax and his constant whining has ruined it, and I am a Republican.
If Von Hass can actually come up with some alternative ideas to what the Dems are doing, he would have my vote. If he continues to do what his partner and my party have done, sling crap, than no.

Curious, not sure if he even went to college, but that has no bearing whatsoever on my vote. Biden plagiarized his way through college and in his speeches afterwards and now he is VP, so I think the 4-yr degree may be overrated…

I don’t know much about EVH, but I’m not sure how I feel about this. I consider myself a conservative and wish the Libertarian Party would emerge as a viable 3rd party. I worry that if EVH won the nomination it would undermine the credibility of the party considering his vocation. Not saying I would not ever vote for him, but I would have to be convinced.

Eric would certainly be a better choice than what we have now. A “common man” not beholding to any one or any group, who tells you what he actually BELIEVES; what a concept! Enough with the party “labels” as well. There are only so many recognized “partys”. An independent party should be established. You shouldn’t have to be tied to a party’s pre-conceived platform. Say what you do support, what you don’t support, and let the people decide on that basis alone. Less taxes, less government intrusiveness, more liberty, more freedom. Seems obvious to this “regular guy”. Good Luck Eric!

He wants to be the first Libertarian US Senator EVER? Yeah right.
He would have to get them to discard some of their more whack job planks from their platform. Problem is, the Libertarians take legalizing meth, heroin, etc… and protectionism pretty seriously.
He and his party has zero chance.
Sorry to burst these poster’s celebrity fan bubble. Politics ain ‘t radio jocking.

I heartily endorse conservatives running every uneducated, right-wing, idiot nutjob they can find, and Von Haessler fits that bill perfectly. It is obvious what a mess the Republican party is right now when so many conservatives voice support for such an obtuse Rush Limbaugh wannabe. This is the best you’ve got? Von Heassler in 2010! Palin in 2012! And Democrats keep control for 12 more years!

Education and career path do NOT matter in politics. As long as they want to serve the public, and ACTUALLY serve the public, who cares what they do or how they got there? (within reason and legal boundaries, of course) There’s no way he’d ever be any worse than the self-serving, idiot Repugnicans and Dumbocrats currently in Congress/Senate/Oval Office who don’t give a damn about the average American.

Yes, and I don’t see him as a novelty or joke candidate. We need common sense and direct talk in our elected leaders. Currently they seem to lack both, just shoot straight-be it good or bad. Every team can’t always win and everybody will not always be happy. The republicans started this financially irresponsible mess, the democrats are simply doing what they said they would and taking it to absurbly high levels.
