These Georgia politicians have the same world view as their 19th century counterparts who said freedom for the black man would result in Miscegenation and the weakening of the white race and thus the country. They were also wrong about Pac Man too. A good rule of thumb is to head the opposite direction of Southern politicians and Southern attitudes in general as history has proved they have never been right about anything ... ever.

fultonrighty,

You are the #1 best poster on this blog. You have it EXACTLY RIGHT. Thank you.

To all who disagree w/ fultonrighty, YOU ARE IN THE WRONG. No amount of whining and gnashing your teeth will change that. So, just accept it and move on.

The entire nation needs to discuss these important issues. Stem Cells are already healing people--but they are adult, placental, or cord-blood cells. Induced pluripotent stem cells are adult cells manipulated to act like embryonic stem cells, but they have the same downsides--they also are too powerful to control and direct. There will never be enough "leftover" embryos from fertility clinics to meet the demands of scientists; that is why cloning is important to them. Even then poor third world women will likely be exploited for their eggs. Creating human beings to kill them for their valuable parts is a deplorably utilitarian, ends-justify-the-means proposition which devalues all human life.

The very people who are looking to this research for their cures--the disabled, crippled, infirm, demented--are the most jeapardized when such an ethic takes over.

OK, everyone...signing off for now. Have a wondereful evening.

Liberals: Try to work on not having a chip on your shoulder, not being angry all the time, and not bashing Bush (he's gone, OK? You are getting tiresome!)

Conservatives: Remember to try and always be of good cheer, be looking out for those are helpless (unborn babies), and especially working to defeat Democrats running in 2010. This is very important.

Take care, eveeryone!

Tom, you cannot put the genie back into the bottle. Just like Prohibition failed, that too would fail. There are too many women out there who want to not be married and still have as much sex as humanly possible. Then, when they get pregnant and want to kill the baby because it would inconvenience them, the liberals will try to make sure that as many abortions as possible are performed in this country. They call it "choice", but anyone with intelligence knows what that means. They just play with the words, e.g., Pro-choice (sounds "good") and Anti-Abortion (sounds "bad"). The libs design it that way. You will never hear "Pro-abortion"! Just like "stimulus package" is used because it is a feel-good teerm (vs. pork package). Obama is SLICK! Sad, but true. Thanks for asking.

I am unsure at this time, there are so many things that are bad for you, it will be hard to ban them all. I am just dealing with the logic of when life begins. If the decision is left to science then we are at the mercy of the current knowledge and technological advancement that exists at that time. Even when abortion first became an issue, the point at which a "baby" can be aborted keeps changing and going closer to the point of conception, not to the point of age 18. Yes, mitosis is occuring in many cells in my body even as I am typing. But I remember myself beginning as that first cell. It was hard but after my first division, it became easier for me. Yes I still continue today. Those were good times, simpler times, less complex times...
