Former Atlantan John Mayer bucked the trend of musicians being political, at least for one night.
While hosting an Armani/Casa party in New York this week, a New York magazine reporter asked the one-time Atlanta resident about his opinion on universal health care.
“Have you ever heard me play guitar?” Mayer said. “I’m really (expletive) good. You know what I’m bad at? Answering questions about public health care.” Others topics touched on during the brief interview were his inability to grow a beard (”It’s a pituitary thing”) and the theme of his new album, due Nov. 17. He’s avoiding politics on this one because “nothing rhymes with public option.”
Since the musician has a, um, quirky sense of humor — did you ever catch “John Mayer Has a TV Show”? — there’s no way to tell whether his answer was serious or whether he was trying to yank the reporter’s chain, but you can read the entire interview and decide for yourself.
