Overscene: Steve Martin
2:23 pm October 13, 2009, by Richard Eldredge
Steve Martin was spotted celebrating one of his three companions birthdays on Thursday night at Buckhead Diner. The group dined on the diner’s famous Maytag Blue Cheese Chips, and enjoyed a Malted Chocolate Brownie Sundae served in a waffle cone and the James Beard Award-winning Banana Cream Pie for dessert. At the end of the meal Mr. Martin was happy to pose for his third picture that will adorn the lobby walls of Buckhead Diner, his last visit was nearly 15 years ago! Mr. Martin is in town playing with his band that will appear tonight at Chastain.
Let me know if you need any other details!

Steve Martin and three companions celebrating a friend’s birthday at the Buckhead Diner. We’re told that the group dined on the diner’s famous Maytag blue cheese chips and enjoyed a malted chocolate brownie sundae served in a waffle cone and the eatery’s James Beard Award-winning banana cream pie for dessert.
Buckhead Diner staffers inform Buzz that at the end of the meal, the comic, actor and musician (who was in town for a bluegrass banjo gig at Chastain) was happy to pose for a photo that will be placed on the lobby wall of the diner. The image will join the other two of Martin snapped at the restaurant over the years. The actor’s last recorded visit to the diner was nearly 15 years ago.

Martin would be the first celebrity to visit the Buckhead Diner since Pat Benatar in 1988. Oops I’m sorry I meant Steve Gutenberg in 1989. The star of Cocoon feasted on Maytag Blue Chips, a malted chocolate brownie sundae and the award winning banana cream pie. Gutenberg’s picture is next to Burt Reynolds and Loni Anderson.

It was a blast seeing a celeb every time we visited. The 80’s a BD were IT.

Round here (Nawthwest Jawjuh) all we see is rednecks… All we saw in the 80’s, as far as that goes… Only celebrities we see are local “Big-Mudder” winners scrubbing their trucks at the car wash.

Since he just put out a bluegrass album Steve should have done a show in Clayton, GA with the kid from “Deliverance.” I used to see the kid from Deliverance at the Buckhead Diner back in the 1980s. He was a great valet.
