Atlanta ‘Bono’ celeb sightings flood Facebook, Twitter

Atlantans were blowing up Facebook and Twitter Tuesday as fast as their thumbs could type about seeing U2 lead singer Bono seemingly everywhere in Atlanta.

Tweeted the folks at the Atlanta Website MetroMix: “Bono sighting by Metromix at the Starbucks at Colony Square. Couldn’t snag a pic!”

The singer, in town for a show Tuesday night at the Georgia Dome, was allegedly also spotted at a Waffle House  Duluth Tuesday.

In reality, it was brand-new Dave FM morning man Jimmy Baron in a limo with Atlanta house painter Barry Burden, a guy who makes his living as a Bono impersonator.

A crowd of about 50 U2 fans clustered around Baron and Burden as they sat at a table at Colony Square Tuesday at noontime.

“It looked like I was interviewing him,” Baron said. “But I was actually asking how much it would cost to paint my office.”

When Baron left Burden sitting at the table alone, fans kept busy taking cellphone pictures until one brave guy finally approached Burden, followed by a small  swarm of autograph seekers and photo takers.

Apparently, some U2 fans caught onto to the ruse (the real Bono currently has a buzzcut while Burden maintains the iconic Bono slicked back look).

Posted one Dave FM listener on Baron’s Facebook page: “It looks like Bono’s put on a few pounds.”

Explained Baron: “Yeah, I had to break that to Barry.”

Leave it to Jimmy Baron to do anything to strum-up listeners and fans. He is pathetic!!! I will refuse to listen to Dave-Fm in the mornings.

Jimmy Baron will fail and/or bring down morning ratings like he has with all of his previous morning radio stations, and with stunts such as these. DaveFM rocks, once he’s off the air.

Sorry Dave...

I really don’t like morning DJs. Especially Jimmy Baron. He’s such a whiner. I really would listen more often if you just played music, weather and traffic. I don’t care what Baron thinks about the world.

Since getting XM radio I haven’t listened to an Atlanta radio station since. That’s been a good 4 years now at least. I don’t think there has been a good radio show in the ATL since early to mid 90’s. You all suck!

I can’t stand jimmy Baron on Dave fm. He is not funny. Use to lister to Dave fm in mornings but he makes me turn it off:( Some years back he was giving away tickets to some event at an arts festival in piedmont park. Me and my sister were only ones at his booth and then he did a rude thing by calling over some girl to give her the tickets. I was like hey we were here first. He just said something like well you win one you lose some. Have no respect for the guy.

Jimmy sucks at being a DJ and always will. He sucked on the morning X, always kissing Barnes’s ass because he was afraid of him. Just don’t listen to Jimmy and he will eventually go away again.
