Tabernacle unveils new all-you-can-hear live buffet

Paramore can be heard for a song this fall if you're a live music fan.

Paramore can be heard for a song this fall if you're a live music fan.

Psst, Atlanta live music fans: Buzz Central got tipped early to an announcement concert promoter Live Nation is planning for Thursday.

Starting today, concert-goers can score tickets to shows at The Tabernacle downtown for the remainder of the year for just $49.99 per person. Live Nations reps tout the new Club Passport  $49.99 offer is “all in” and “no fees!”

Here’s how it will work: Starting today, you can go to livenation.com to purchase the passport.

You’ll receive a passport number.

Then, check back every Monday at livenation.com to see what shows are available and to make  reservations.

Passport holders will also receive weekly email updates via livenation.com, Facebook or Twitter. On night of the show(s) you reserve, concert-goers can redeem their tickets at the box office with a photo ID and passport number.

Upcoming shows at The Tabernacle include Snow Patrol with Plain White T’s Oct. 3; Regina Spektor Oct. 6 and 7; BET’s “106th & Park” tour featuring Trey Songz and Mario Oct. 9; Thievery Corporation Oct. 11; comic David Cross Oct. 17; Paramore on Oct. 27; Lenny Kravitz on Oct. 29; Wolfmother on Nov. 2; Gary Allan with Jack Ingram Nov. 13 and Brett Dennen on Nov. 14.

Sounds kind of nasty. I would never eat food made there.

This is a pretty great deal. About time LiveNation realizes that we are in a recession and entertainment is at a premium.

Watch out, folks. Though the Tabernacle touts its upcoming lineup, right now it seems that the only show that is “eligible” for Passport tickets is Chevelle on Sept. 26. Go to the site and click on the Tabernacle link, as opposed to the “Buy Now” link. I’ll wager that bands like The Cult, The Dead Weather and the bigger names aren’t going to be Passport supported. The site also talks about “Club Shows,” which may in fact have a special definition. I’d be very very wary about this. Ticketing services aren’t exactly known for altruism, you know. In the words of Colonel Tom Parker, “How much does it cost if it’s free?”

I already got my tickets for the Chevelle show :)

Dawg Foot – There actually used to be a restaurant in the basement of the Tabernacle (aka The Cotton Club) a long time ago. I believe it was only open for lunch though. There is a kitchen in the backstage area… I know this because I walked back there once and got ran off by security. They often cook pizza back there and sell it at their shows.

The reason there is a kitchen there is because it used to be House of Blues around the time of the Olympics. BTW the article says “all you can hear” buffet, not “all you can eat buffet”.

Be wary…right now there is only one show listed as available on the Livenation website, and they say that it is only for “participating shows.” Who knows what that may mean? Also, if a show sells out, you’re out of luck.
