Outwrite Books, one of late Atlanta author E. Lynn Harris‘ favorite signing locales has been selected to host the national launch for the writer’s final novel, “Mama Dearest” Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
And while the star attraction will most definitely be missed at the event (Harris died unexpectedly this summer at the age of 54), Outwrite owner Philip Rafshoon has assembled an impressive list of bold-faced names who will help celebrate the author’s work by reading from the writer’s books, both new and old.
Set to participate: Novelists Eric Jerome Dickey, Clarence Nero, R.M. Johnson, Tina McElroy Ansa and the author’s personal assistant Laura Gilmore.
And the focal point of Harris’ final book? His popular heroine Yancey Harrington Braxton, who in “Mama Dearest” finds the singer and actress attempting to bounce back from her ill-fated romance with NFL tight end John Basil Henderson.
Did we mention that Yancey gets involved in one hot mess of a TV reality show and that in the tantalizing tale Harris introduces Yancey’s very scary mama Ava Middlebrooks, who is fresh out of prison after serving time for attempted murder?
According to the advance publicity materials delivered to Buzz Central, readers should brace for “a wild, passion-filled tour of the entertainment world, with sensual thrills and electric plot twists — with one unforgettable woman of radiant star power, sexual magnetism, and unapologetic ambition at the heart of the action.”

I’ll be missing him. Even though I never met the man he seemed to be close to my heart. Thank you for helping me understand myself as well as others around me. We all struggle with something if we live long enough. Hopefully, he knew he had made major foot prints on others lives that brought about an awareness that was powerful and much needed. Thank you and I will be picking up this last book.
