Oprah snags first sit down with Whitney Houston

Oprah Winfrey’s 24th season premiere this fall will begin with a bang. The talk show queen has booked former Atlantan Whitney Houston for her first in-depth interview in practically seven years (if you don’t count the pop diva’s incoherent ramblings on the late, lamented Bravo reality show, “Being Bobby Brown“).

The interview will air on Sept. 14. Winfrey’s reps describe the chat as “the most anticipated music interview of the decade.”

Houston’s long-awaited comeback album “I Look to You” hits stores Aug. 31.

I hate that song by Whitney Houston I Look to you….I understand that she is making a comeback but she could have found a better song to do it with… when V-103 plays that song in the middle of good songs I am like what the hell is this mess it took me forever to know that was her.

I’m with you Ladybug. That song sucks and I am such a Whitney Houston supporter but I can’t get behind that song. I wish people would stick to what they know. We love Whitney for songs like “You Give Good Love”, “Saving All My Love” and ” I’m Your Baby Tonight.” We need to here about some love, love making and heartbreak, not this I look to you shyt….

For all of you who don’t care for the song, there are just as many or more who will like it. It’s a matter of personal taste.

Im sorry but I hate her new songs! I think her singing career is over! I still love her for for her, however, her voice is not the same and I don’t think it will ever be the same! It’s so sad because she had a voice that once made you melt, and feel every lyric that she sang. Now where I hear her new releases I have no choice but to turn the station it annoys me.

I would love to see her in another film, I think she was a wonderful actress in the Body Guard, maybe that talent has been tarnished.

On the flip side, I am glad she seems to be doing much better, and I wish her nothing but great things for herself and family.

I can’t wait to see her on Oprah!!!

I am amazed that the comments saying that “her voice is not the same”. How can it be the same when she is definitely older than she was when she burst on the music scene. What I like about this effort is that she’s not trying to be 20-something. The songs are grown-up and not Beyonce-ish. At least she sings songs for “hopefully” a more mature audience as oppose to being like Janet Jackson who is still trying to recreate her youthful sound with “Control” like releases.

As any good artist matures in age, so should their music if they want to be around for a while in the music industry. I believe that Whitney will be just fine. Hell….if the US doesn’t support her anymore (which is what happens to established artists in this country anyway) there is always a European market that will welcome her back with open arms. There is definitely more money to be made in Europe by R&B artists anyway.
