Lifetime’s hit locally shot comedy “Drop Dead Diva” has been picked up for a second season, according to The Hollwood Reporter. A second season of 13 episodes will debut in 2010.
The show, starring Brooke Elliott as a brainy lawyer who has the soul of a self-absorbed shallow blonde diva, wrapped its first season this month in Peachtree City.
“Diva” co-star Margaret Cho, who plays Elliott’s quippy assistant, trumpeted the pickup news on her Facebook and Twitter pages Thursday.
There was no official word from Lifetime whether the show would continue to shoot here. Our hunch?
We’re betting it will, what with the tax incentives Georgia is offering, the sets and warehouse studios are already here and the fact that it’s far cheaper to shoot here than in Los Angeles where the series is technically set.
