First, the folks in writer Pat Conroy’s hometown successfully snapped up every available seat to next week’s debut of his new novel, “South of Broad” at his Aug. 19 event at the Carter Center.
Now, Acappella Books has completely sold out of all the first edition, signed copies of the tome.
“We put aside 600 copies and they’ve all been snapped up,” Acappella Books owner Frank Reiss told Buzz Wednesday. “It’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen here.”
And while Reiss has a request in for more signed books from Conroy he doesn’t know if his request will be granted.
Buzz hears that Conroy’s reps at the Nan Talese imprint at Random House in New York are being extremely protective of Conroy’s health, time and his schedule on this book tour.
But Reiss points out the author has made a career out of being responsive to his readers.
Says the store owner: “He’s renown for his willingness to sign. It’s why people love him so much. We remain hopeful.”
