Speaking for the band, we weren't bummed at all. We had actually already played a full set, and were starting into our second when "the fuzz" came down on us. And it was like the coolest cop in the western hemisphere that shut us down. All in all a fun night. But I do wish we could have at least gotten a complimentary copy of the book for our (free) entertainment efforts. That just seemed ingracious. Maybe there are publishers rules about that or something, I don't know. Either way, Viva Pynchon!

Was there. Six-person turnout, three of 'em preternaturally hip high schoolers, not counting the band, who were shut down by the cops after only a couple of songs. The staff seemed generally bummed to be working late-- the band, too, who were refused payment for their performance because they wanted to forego cash in favor of free copies of the book. All in all an unspectacular affair, but hey, I walked out with a fresh pile of Pynch to peruse. The bummers belong to other folks... 'Cept maybe those high schoolers. They didn't seem to know what woe was.
