Hank Aaron to help unveil new Coke bottle Thursday

The new, improved Coke bottle being installed at Turner Field.

While the new 49-foot-tall, state-of-the-art Coca-Cola bottle won’t be officially unveiled until Thursday’s game at Turner Field, the folks at Coca-Cola and the Atlanta Braves have given us a small advance taste of what to expect this week.

Braves fans already know that the new 21st century version will replace the original Coca-Cola Sky Field bottle, which was perched high above left field for the past 12 years.

We’re told the new bottle will feature  ”a high-resolution, programmable screen serving as the bottle’s famous red label with lights that can produce millions of different colors.”

The new bottle will come to life each time Atlanta’s home team hits a home run in the stadium while continuing to provide the traditional fireworks celebration for which the original bottle was known.

The bottle’s exterior is made of a polycarbonate high-impact material and traced in 3,000 tri-colored LED lights, each capable of producing over 16 million different colors.

The new bottle will be officially unveiled by Coca-Cola and Braves executives, including legend Hank Aaron during a special ceremony at home plate before the start of Thursday’s game against the New York Mets.

During the game, meanwhile, Coke and the Braves will distribute pieces of memorabilia from the original Coca-Cola Sky Field bottle to a number of lucky fans.

At least there will be something showing some signs of life in left field…

It better be able to spit out 100 hundred dollar bills to the crowd. The way they keep trying to give away the team, that will be the only way they will draw any fans.
