I do indeed remember seeing the film in the theater right here in Atlanta. I wasn’t uncomfortable when the lights came up (I’m white), but I remember that the film made me think very hard about a lot of things. Whatever people may think of him, Spike can direct brilliant films when he puts his mind to it. As far as Spike being a racist, I don’t think so. As I recall, the film generated quite a buzz and started a lot of good dialog between all types of people.

You damn right I went to see DO THE RIGHT THING!!! And I have probably watched the film, in its entirety more than 25 times!!!! Spike Lee is a genius, and I continue to be a fan. The documentary on KOBE BRYANT on ESPN (KOBE: DOIN WORK) was absolutely phenomenal!!! No one but SPIKE could do KOBE that way!!! I’ve watched that ESPN film three (3) times already!!! Love ya, SPIKE!!!
