T.I.’s Loooong Farewell Will Finish at Philips Arena May 24

In a farewell tour that is increasingly dwarfing Cher, Tina Turner and Brett Favre’s, rapper-actor T.I. announced Wednesday that his final pre-prison concert will be held at Philips Arena Sunday, May 24.

The price for the concert with the Grammy winner and his fellow Grand Hustle recording artists: an economical $36.70. Explains the performer (who pleaded guilty to federal weapons charges in March) via an e-mail sent to Buzz Central: “This is my last gift to my fans before I go away for a year. The $36.70 ticket represents the time I will serve while I’m away. Philips Arena will definitely be the place to be on May 24th!”

Technically, T.I. was sentenced to one year and one day which is only 366 days. Buzz was left to ponder how the event’s organizers came up with the $36.70 ticket price (late word Wednesday was that the ticket price might be lowered by 10-cents). Regardless, tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at www.philipsarena.com and www. ticketmaster.com, the Philips Arena Box Office or charge by phone at (404) 249-6400.

While he’s facing a potential year-long stretch in stir this year, the rapper, along with Andrew Young can also celebrate being nominated for multiple Southeastern Regional Emmy Awards nominations for their joint documentary project, “Andrew Young Presents: Walking With Guns.” The film, along with co-producers Young, T.I., C.B. Hackworth and Joyce Wilson is up for Best Documentary (Cultural). Co-writers Young and Hackworth are also nominated in the Best Writing category.

Young, Hackworth and comedian Chris Tucker are also nominated for their joint episode of “Andrew Young Presents: Chris Tucker in Nigeria.” The awards will be handed out June 27.

“Principles” for Success

Atlantan Jackie Gingrich Cushman and her famous father, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich went on “Good Morning America” Wednesday to promote their joint book, “Five Principles for a Successful Life: From Our Family to Yours” (Crown, $22). Of the book’s origins, Gingrich Cushman explained to “GMA” co-anchor Robin Roberts: “My children, Maggie and Robert began asking how did grandpa become Speaker. I wanted them to understand that it wasn’t an overnight success.”

The interview wasn’t all puff, however. Roberts did attempt to ask the elder “Principles” author about his past mistakes, including his two failed marriages and subsequent divorces. A smiling Gingrich took the high road and politely answered: “Being 65 and a grandfather gives you a different perspective.”

to Chris: Get a freakin’ life. Most young entertainers wear their hats/caps that way and most celerities wear sunglasses indoors. He is not a loser, and why would you want him to “die in jail”? I think YOU are the loser…

Chris, what kind of is that to say?!?!?! You are very very ignorant (look it up) & i hope someone beats the hell out of you. You need prayer. Only someone possessed w/ the devil, would hope someone “dies in jail”. LOSER.

It just amazes me that even though he’s been arrested for a federal crime that he has the nerve to have a ‘Good-bye’ concert. He should be made to take his share of the profits and donate it to charity and then get his over-exposed rear end to jail!
