Brother, sister face meth, incest charges

Cameron Beck and Charlene Ellet are being held on meth and incest charges in Texas. (Montgomery County Jail)

Cameron Beck and Charlene Ellet are being held on meth and incest charges in Texas. (Montgomery County Jail)

Some forms of drugs and sex remain illegal.

In Texas, a half-brother and sister arrested for meth possession were also slapped with “prohibited sexual conduct” after making out in jail.

The sad tale is chronicled by the Montgomery County (Texas) Police Reporter, and goes something like this:

Charlene Marie Ellet was detained at a Houston-area Wal-Mart for shoplifting. She told police she and her 2-year-old twins were driven to the store by her brother, Cameron Beck, 26.

Police were given consent to search Beck’s car and found a light bulb and “cut pen” containing meth crystals. I guess meth is smoked in light bulbs until LEDs take over completely.

Beck and Ellet admitted to smoking the drug.

Ellet was charged with shoplifting and both were charged with meth possession.

At jail, things got weird when police noticed the two, held in adjoining cells, were making out between the bars.

Upon questioning, Ellet told police she and Beck have the same mother and had been involved in a sexual relationship since Beck was let out of prison in 2013.

Ellet told police the relationship got serious when they started exchanging letter while Beck still in prison. She said the family shared a hotel room and all slept in the same bed.

Jail records say Beck uses the aliases “Monkey,” “Savage,” “Psyko” and  “Taco.”

Jail records indicate Ellet was charged Monday for choking a family member, presumably while still in jail.

The good news? Since the twins are 2, they are likely not Beck’s.

The bad news? Everything else you just read.

No harm no foul. Drugs should be legalized and you should be able to have sex with whomever/whatever you want! (At least that’s what the liberals will say.)

seriously, their is a valid scientific and public health reason for prohibiting incest. Incest causes all manner of genetic problems.

Don’t Tread – What a libertarian who supports freedom, liberty, and the unalienable rights of human beings would say is that as a human being, you either own your own body or you don’t. While putting meth into your body may not be the smartest thing to do, more deaths each year can be traced to FDA-approved prescription drugs and again, you either own your own body or the government (in this case) does. The same applies to sexual relations. Unless force or fraud is involved (neither of which appear to be the case), every human being has the unalienable right to do with their body as they see fit (so long as they are not harming another or their property). Either you own your body or the government does. That our government no longer respects our rights to our bodies and our property is simply a clear and obvious example of everything that is wrong with this country. And this is not an endorsement of either drugs or incest, but rather an endorsement of freedom and liberty which are supposed to be above emotion or government force.

Well said. “And this is not an endorsement of either drugs or incest, but rather an endorsement of freedom and liberty which are supposed to be above emotion or government force.”

What is the definition of a conservative?

How can you say we live in a free society -but we have all of these rules?

The Repubs tell us they are for less government. Don’t take our guns – don’t add any more regulations on to us etc blah blah blah.

But they want to use the government to tell you:

1. You have to speak English
2. Who you can marry.
3. You can’t have a abortion

Folks – we can’t have it both ways.

If we can:

1. Send a man to the moon
2. Find Osama Bin Laden
3. Eavesdrop on anyone in the world at anytime.

I believe we could eliminate our drug trade here in the US.

But there’s too much money in it…. – from the banks to the Police – it’s big business.

But is that not the American way.

Free enterprise – right? :)

You see folks, we as Americans are living in a quandry – everyday…

We want to tell the world – that we are the land of the free home of the brave.

But when you have a society that’s willing to pass laws that denies a group of people thier rights (whatever they may be) – then none of us are truly free.

We now deep down folks should have the right to do whatever – but we are scared – if those things are things we personnaly don’t support or belive in.

That’s our quandry – we want freeedom as a whole but only for those things we all can agree are morally right.

How do we solve it – can we?

If you want to be free, there is but one way; it is to guarantee an equally full measure of liberty to all your neighbors. There is no other.
Carl Schurz (1829 – 1906)

When we lose the right to be different, we lose the privilege to be free.
Charles Evans Hughes, Address at Faneuil Hall, Boston, Massachusetts, June 17, 1925

You can only protect your liberties in this world by protecting the other man’s freedom. You can only be free if I am free.
Clarence Darrow (1857 – 1938), Address to the jury, trial of Communists, Chicago, Illinois, 1920

The only freedom which deserves the name, is that of pursuing our own good in our own way, so long as we do not attempt to deprive others of theirs, or impede their efforts to obtain it.
John Stuart Mill (1806 – 1873), On Liberty, 1859

While the State exists, there can be no freedom. When there is freedom there will be no State.
Lenin (1870 – 1924), “State and Revolution”, 1919

I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.

The crack epidemic was a direct offshoot of the CIA’s involvement in the Iran-Contra scandal. They were funneling all that cocaine into the inner cities of America to fund the Contra rebels. Bottom line however is that both the crack and the meth epidemics are an anticipated consequence of the failed war on drugs. The high profit motive, need to create stronger and more addictive product, etc. can be seen with any prohibition. Beer and wine were the primarily consumed alcoholic beverages before prohibition began in the 1910s in the US, but when smuggling became the primary route for the material, more concentrated liquors became the product of choice. Why smuggle 5-12% alcohol when you can smuggle 40-90% alcohol. Same with cocaine versus coca leaves, heroin versus opium, etc.

The sad thing is that these 2 will be sent by an otherwise “tough on crime judge” (like Mary Staley), their records will be wiped clean, and their employment opportunities will never be affected – ever.

Hidden Agenda

Crankshaft – and just exactly how is society “enriched” by throwing them in jail (which we will all have to pay for), hurting their employment chances (which we will then have to pay for – welfare), etc.? Wouldn’t we have all been better off with a free society in which the lure of big profits was gone from clandestine drug manufacturing? You make snide comments like “tough on crime judge” but promoting the real tough on crime mentality is how we got first time offenders locked up for life for simple possession, etc. and how neither side can show either any humanity or any sanity in drying to reduce the penalties or even end this failed war on freedom.

Well truly I have been talking about freedom, but implied but not stated is the necessary requirement of personal responsibility. That means no government-created moral hazards like subsidizing people’s irresponsibility. So only voluntary charities, no government welfare, etc. And accountability to your victims if their persons or their property are violated. Having a society like that would force parents to teach and instill responsibility (you know, like they used to).
