Alabama kicker gets death threats after loss

Taking things way too seriously is an American pastime.

How else to explain why millions of us are spending billions to hoard food, ammo and survivalist gear?

People love taking sports too seriously too.

The Alabama-Auburn game ended disastrously for the Crimson Tide Saturday when Auburn returned a missed field goal for a touchdown with no time left on the clock.

It was an amazing play and an exciting game that featured four botched field goals by Alabama, who had been ranked No. 1 before the “Iron Bowl” began.

It’s fair to say Alabama kicker Cade Foster didn’t have an amazing game. The usually surefooted player missed three field goals and, with the score tied at 28, was pulled in favor of freshman kicker Adam Griffith when Alabama tried for a game-winning 57-yard field goal with the final play.

Even though Foster wasn’t responsible for the kick that backfired, he is the one that got death threats.

“I’m coming for you you gonna die tonight,” tweeted @Hov_Sean.

“Cade Foster I’m gonna kill you and your family just FYI,” wrote @saraculvs.

Less homicidal fans just asked Foster to kill himself or prayed his girlfriend would cheat on him with his best friend.

The nicest folks suggested he stay away from Tuscaloosa and take online classes.

Foster reacted like most of us would — he temporarily changed his twitter name to “aaa” and his picture to a black square.

Eventually, the Crimson Tide of public sentiment turned.

One of the latest tweets aimed @Foster_43 said “still love you Cade. Thanks for the national championships and countless wins.”

So there’s still hope for humanity. Or maybe I’m taking Twitter death threats too seriously?

I watched the game in its entirety. It was a game that was as well played as I have ever seen. Both teams were really on their game. It was j8st one of those magifcal moments in time when the Auburn player fielded caught the football in the endzone and wqent approximately 03 yards for the winning touchdown. Huh… seems coach Saban forgot the other team could return the short field goal and had no players in place to defend they play! Saban got taken to school by Gus Malzahn… so much for the Process…

I find it interesting that the idiot who wrote this just felt COMPELLED to segue into how he thinks preppers are insane, even though football and the level of debt, the shaky banking infrastructure of the USA, the precarious nature of our food system, blah blah blah have NO correlation to whether some group of imbeciles pile on a young man who missed a field goal or two.

Sure sounds like a lot of people have just been chomping at the bit for Alabama to finally lose, that they come out in full force to voice their pleasure. From what I can see, Alabama has still dominated each and every team you pull for as of late, and if one loss makes you happy, then so be it, but the fact still stands that Alabama has owned you as of late and has more crystal football’s than your team does, recently or in history.

Georgia fans are just patheitc and still trying to catch their breath from losing to lowly Tech. Auburn fans can gloat, it was a heck of a game, they won, so they deserve the trash talk. But please don’t forget your team won 3 games last year, none in the SEC, and we won the last two National Championships. You’ve been successful with two quarterbacks that were kicked out of school elsewhere for breaking the law and you scouped them up and lowered your standards. In the end, you beat us and deserve the credit.

I also don’t think any Georgia fan can talk about class when your fans egged the house of your starting quarterback last season. And as far as the intelligence jokes go, here you go to both fan bases…

2012 Football Graduation Rates: SEC
Vanderbilt 86%
LSU 77%
Florida 76%
Alabama 69%
Georgia 65%
Auburn 63%
Mississippi St. 62%
Kentucky 61%
Tennessee 61%
Arkansas 56%
South Carolina 55%
Mississippi 54%

Not to mention, the ones running their mouths are probably side walk fans anyways and not even actual graduates from the school they pull for.

All fan bases have idiots as well as those who live on the lunatic fringe. The problem for bama is that most of the ‘bad’ fans come out harder and with more passion when a program is winning a lot. Bama is the best football program ever based on a lot of factors. So over time more and more pride and ego has built up to where many of these fans are not even cognizant of their own arrogance. Well, OK, both Alabama kickers sucked, so are both being threatened? And what’s with Saban coaching like that? Rats that Auburn beat us, UGA, on a fluke, and rats that Auburn beat Bama on a fluke. Now I gotta cheer for Auburn against Missouri. ugh! who let Missouri and Texas A&M into the SEC? we don’t need either of them.
And poor Dukies. They have to play FL state which won’t suspend the quarterback till after the season. Remember last year when T[ao had the invisible girlfriend when he was in the running for the Heisman? ow we have a guy whose sexual assault case was deep sixed since he is the FSU quarterback. OK, so UGA dumped Mettenberger because he had the sexual offense. (Which the Athens DA did not prosecute.) And UGA dumped the other guy, forget his name, who went over to, hmm isn’t he at Auburn? for having criminal issues. So if UGA weren’t so moral, we could have won???? Or, as previously stated a few years ago, we could have bought the Quarterback that Auburn had when Auburn bought him to win the national title. UGA is standing by it’s standards of no criminals on the team, while Auburn and LSU just laugh and play those guys who should be prosecute.
Whatever. The SEC rules. Although UGA is going to give us all heart failure after losing to Auburn on a fluke, then going double overtime against the north ave. trade school.
Roll Tide. I hope the Tide does get in the national championship and that Saban finds a kicker.

Expected nothing less – pathetic though. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see Nick at Texas next year. Bama will be rebuilding and Nick’s MO is to say he’s not leaving then bolt. Your beloved Pat Dye was a total loser and a cheater, yet y’all cuddle him like he’s your child or little puppy. Let’s not even get into the Cameron Newton fiasco, as that still wreaks to high heaven. Yep, that’s nothing but class right there everyone, Auburn University. Can’t wait to see the next criminal your program brings in to win it all once Marshall is gone.

“You have to LOVE SEC fans…..Such a classy educated bunch….
Killing trees, Tea Bagging and Egging your QBs home.”

POAD, you wouldn’t know class if it crashed through the roof of your single-wide and knocked your junk out of your sister’s mouth.

Nick Saban……….you hear about ACC fans doing the Classy things SEC fans do to each other and their players all the time. Where can I order my SEC Mansion Double Wide just like you have? Well I would choose other colors. I’m Guessing yours is Camo painted on the backyard side and Crimson on the side facing the dirt road you live on.

No one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes! Bama will be back and THE PROCESS will continue! ROLL TIDE! The TIDE will be one of the four teams that make the playoffs next year: GUARANTEED! Oh, and just for the record, if Ohio State loses and Mizzou beats Auburn then THE TIDE just might get that final BCS Championship spot!!!! WAR CHICKEN!!!! LOL!

Ohio state hasn’t beaten a top 10 team since September 2009 cause the big 10 blows like a phi mu at a formal. So they don’t deserve to play for all the marbles. For you idiot bammers, give it up. You lost. You won’t be sniffing any type of championship this year. Kick Bama Kick!!!

I like the second paragragh. This reporter thinks following the disaster prep recommendations of FEMA is “taking things too seriously”. If more people prepared we would not have the scenes of helpless people waiting for big brother to come to the rescue … see NOLA 2005.

I find it sad that so called die hard Alabama fans are threatening one of their players. Cade was not the person responsible for the loss. It was a team failure from the QB, to the receivers, to the defense, and he is a very small piece of the team. They should have played better so it wouldn’t come down to a kick. The police know who made the comments and Twitter should close those accounts. Cade needs to brush it off and be proud to be a part of a legacy. Those losers should not get the time of day for their immature behavior!

To BG: NO, Bama fans are not the brightest. I am not joking when I tell you that NONE of the 7 kids from my daughter’s school who went there this year graduated with honors. In addition, they are all known drug users. Alabama accepts anyone who applies from out of town for the money. Not know for their academic abilities at all. I am sure there are some kids there that are bright but none from one a West Cobb HS!

@jaggar – Perhaps you should quit talking about academic proficiency until you can construct a properly written paragraph. I counted 9 grammatical and logical errors in your last post. Can you find them all, genius? I didn’t think so.

I was a place kicker in high school. Hit 67 extra points in a row, then my senior yr I missed one and we lost 7-6. No kidding. NOBODY feels worse than the kicker when he misses one. this kid needs support. I had to listen to snide remarks and comments written in my annual. If you are really a fan, you will support him. Go Dawgs.

Chris Davis wouldn’t have scored and Auburn wouldn’t have won if Forrest Gump were still on scholarship.

Also, I’m curious…now that the Toomer’s Corner oaks are firewood, where do Auburn fans put their toilet paper?

I thought I’d seen the funniest thing ever to come out of the mentally and culturally-challenged SEC last week when I witnessed the two boobs from Florida blocking each other. But only a week later, the almighty Nickalos Saban outcoaching himself! Priceless.
The young man didn’t lose that game, dufuses. His only mistake was attending Alerbammer. Saban lost that game! Hilarious!
