Alabama kicker gets death threats after loss

Taking things way too seriously is an American pastime.

How else to explain why millions of us are spending billions to hoard food, ammo and survivalist gear?

People love taking sports too seriously too.

The Alabama-Auburn game ended disastrously for the Crimson Tide Saturday when Auburn returned a missed field goal for a touchdown with no time left on the clock.

It was an amazing play and an exciting game that featured four botched field goals by Alabama, who had been ranked No. 1 before the “Iron Bowl” began.

It’s fair to say Alabama kicker Cade Foster didn’t have an amazing game. The usually surefooted player missed three field goals and, with the score tied at 28, was pulled in favor of freshman kicker Adam Griffith when Alabama tried for a game-winning 57-yard field goal with the final play.

Even though Foster wasn’t responsible for the kick that backfired, he is the one that got death threats.

“I’m coming for you you gonna die tonight,” tweeted @Hov_Sean.

“Cade Foster I’m gonna kill you and your family just FYI,” wrote @saraculvs.

Less homicidal fans just asked Foster to kill himself or prayed his girlfriend would cheat on him with his best friend.

The nicest folks suggested he stay away from Tuscaloosa and take online classes.

Foster reacted like most of us would — he temporarily changed his twitter name to “aaa” and his picture to a black square.

Eventually, the Crimson Tide of public sentiment turned.

One of the latest tweets aimed @Foster_43 said “still love you Cade. Thanks for the national championships and countless wins.”

So there’s still hope for humanity. Or maybe I’m taking Twitter death threats too seriously?

Ohio state hasn’t beaten a top 10 team since September 2009 cause the big 10 blows like a phi mu at a formal. So they don’t deserve to play for all the marbles. For you idiot bammers, give it up. You lost. You won’t be sniffing any type of championship this year. Kick Bama Kick!!!

I like the second paragragh. This reporter thinks following the disaster prep recommendations of FEMA is “taking things too seriously”. If more people prepared we would not have the scenes of helpless people waiting for big brother to come to the rescue … see NOLA 2005.

I find it sad that so called die hard Alabama fans are threatening one of their players. Cade was not the person responsible for the loss. It was a team failure from the QB, to the receivers, to the defense, and he is a very small piece of the team. They should have played better so it wouldn’t come down to a kick. The police know who made the comments and Twitter should close those accounts. Cade needs to brush it off and be proud to be a part of a legacy. Those losers should not get the time of day for their immature behavior!

To BG: NO, Bama fans are not the brightest. I am not joking when I tell you that NONE of the 7 kids from my daughter’s school who went there this year graduated with honors. In addition, they are all known drug users. Alabama accepts anyone who applies from out of town for the money. Not know for their academic abilities at all. I am sure there are some kids there that are bright but none from one a West Cobb HS!

@jaggar – Perhaps you should quit talking about academic proficiency until you can construct a properly written paragraph. I counted 9 grammatical and logical errors in your last post. Can you find them all, genius? I didn’t think so.

Auburn is the luckiest team in any sport I have ever witnessed watching sports for 49 years. That luck is soon to run out…

I was a place kicker in high school. Hit 67 extra points in a row, then my senior yr I missed one and we lost 7-6. No kidding. NOBODY feels worse than the kicker when he misses one. this kid needs support. I had to listen to snide remarks and comments written in my annual. If you are really a fan, you will support him. Go Dawgs.

Chris Davis wouldn’t have scored and Auburn wouldn’t have won if Forrest Gump were still on scholarship.

Also, I’m curious…now that the Toomer’s Corner oaks are firewood, where do Auburn fans put their toilet paper?

I thought I’d seen the funniest thing ever to come out of the mentally and culturally-challenged SEC last week when I witnessed the two boobs from Florida blocking each other. But only a week later, the almighty Nickalos Saban outcoaching himself! Priceless.
The young man didn’t lose that game, dufuses. His only mistake was attending Alerbammer. Saban lost that game! Hilarious!
