Idaho?

Nope,  “Udaho” sounds like the message sent to a high school basketball coach fired for a photo she posted on Facebook.

Pocatello High School girls basketball coach Laraine Cook was fired in late October by the Orwellian-sounding “School District 25″ for a photo that showed her fiance’s hand over her bikini-clad breast.

Cook pulled the photo within 24 hours of posting it and high school administrators reprimanded her in July.

In October, an anonymous busybody sent a copy of the photo to the school district, which fired Cook and reprimanded her fiance, Pocatello High head football coach Tom Harrison.

Cook led the girls basketball team to a third-place showing at the 2013 state tournament. Harrison has won 10 state football championships and was inducted into the Idaho High School Football Hall of Fame in 2000.

Cook is filing a lawsuit against the school district. She told local media the photo was “absolutely not [immoral]” and her mother was on the vacation trip with her and Harrison. She said the school district told her she was fired, and not Harrison, because she is the person that posted the photo.

Almost 90 percent of respondents to an Online poll by The Idaho State Journal think Cook should have kept her job.

Lauren Gannon, 17, a senior at Pocatello High School, said if anyone should have been fired, it should have been Harrison.

Some allege the anonymous person who sent the photo to the school district is a rival basketball coach.

Parent Tim Pierson, who was in a group of parents that petitioned the district to reconsider its decision, said “the real losers in all this is the girls” who lost their coach 10 days before the season started.

Rule 1 of life : Quit posting photographs of yourself if you work in the public sector. You are asking for trouble because there is always someone out there who takes it upon themselves to be the morality police.

Seriously!!!…………… i would love to follow the school board around all day with a camera, and take pictures of everything they do and then post them and and see if they want to fire themselves for, walking in front of a bar, being the beer aisle at the store, picking up a cucumber, picking their noses, touching another human..OMG, the humanity!!!

No teacher, coach or school administrator should have a facebook account. They run the risk of subjecting themselves to too much scrutiny.

Yes, she should not have been fired, but what can you say so such stupidy in the first place? Here’s a primer for idiot teachers who have FB accounts. 1) Do NOT post any pictures unless they’re head shots or if you’re fully clothed, and 2) Don’t post pics of anyone touching the T & A areas, (and don’t touch them yourself).
If you want to work and retain your job teaching children, the above instructions will help. An if you’re a free spirit that doesn’t feel yourself worthy to have to conform to whatever it takes to keep from getting fired off your job for non complance with the above–find work elsewhere.

This is left over from the morality contract teachers use to be forced to sign. Teachers & School Admins are free citizens of the US like everyone else and have the right to do the same stupid stuff the rest of us do. The government isn’t stopping them officially, but public officials are reading more into the law than they should.

Education?? Are you kidding me? Sounds like the School District Administrators and Board are in need of higher learning. This is just stupid.

But look at other recent headlines to see how screwed up — PC correct — Race over-kill and others, this country has become: NBA player announces he is gay and receives a personal phone call from the President proclaiming he is a HERO! NFL player complains that he is being BULLIED by another teammate! The PRESIDENT encouraging Gay’s in the military; Same-Sex Marriage; and, Legalizing Marihuana!

#1, why post the damn photo in the first place?!!! Stupid! Everyday we see examples of people messing up their lives posting stuff on FB and still people keep on doing it. That’s not only stupid, it’s crazy! It’s adults with adolescent narcissism disease which is a rampant plague. In one generation we have seen discretion, good judgement, and personal dignity go out the window in favor of the instant gratification of our personal narcissism. The results are the above exhibit A. The pathetic thing is that most of us have no idea what I am talking about.

Employers, including government entities, don’t have any right to delve into anyone’s personal web sites or accounts. That being said, public sector employees (including military) probably shouldn’t be posting things like this to their pages because government thinks it has the right to do whatever it wants.

Speaking of the government doing whatever it wants, it’s good that Google has changed the encryption on their inter-hub traffic to lock them out. Other service providers need to follow suit. Last I checked, the Fourth Amendment hasn’t been repealed, so the government needs to follow Google’s advice and go [bleep] itself.

Don’t Tread @ 11:40 am – My Friend what you have failed to realize is that the (4th) Fourth Amendment was “DISAPPEARED” the moment George bush Signed the First version of Patriot Act that fateful SUNDAY evening at Midnight while America slept in October 2001.

A LAW planned, written, drafted and approved by the Republican Leadership of the Congress to cover the failings of the actions of the Bush Administration Failure of detecting and preventing the dreadful Horrific event of September 11,2001.

It worked too! We are Now ALL SUSPECTS!

You stupid SOB. 98 Senators voted for the Patriot Act. 357 members of the house voted for the Patriot Act.

OK looking at the photo how can we even be certain it’s his hand? It could be another person reaching up, or even her own left hand. If I was her lawyer I’d run that up the flagpole and see who salutes.

My kids attended Catholic schools. Public schools are not what they once were. Today’s teachers are from all walks of life and many are poorly educated.

See the Atlanta Public School cheating scandal if you have any doubts.

This teacher, harmless as her photo may be to adults, is setting a horrible example for young women. She probably was a good coach and teacher. She used very poor judgement.

First off- she probably is not even “friends” with her students. So bringing them into this is not even an issue. Second- why is she the only one fired??? HE is also a coach and no one on here is worried about what message his actions are sending. Shows how there are soo many double standards for women still. Third- while I understand that she is a teacher, she is still a HUMAN- I guess teachers are not allowed to have any life at all- no displays of affection, no drinking, no being caught in a bathing suit. REALLY PEOPLE!!
