Study: Being poor makes you stupider

Tom Glavine must be real smart to live in a mansion.

Its easy to bee smart in this house.

There be some people who say if you poor you stupid but that may not be the case.

A gnu study says low intelligents is not the cause of low funds, but the result of it.

“Poverty Centipedes Cognitive Friction” is the name of the studie, which doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. You can read it here if you gotta big brain like rich people.

Fortunutly the Guardian folks who are best pals with ym hero Eric Snowden wrote it up so even dummer people can read it.

Let me copy and paste sum.

Poor people spend so much mental energy on the immediate problems of paying bills and cutting costs that they are left with less capacity to deal with other complex but important tasks, including education, training or managing their time, suggests research published on Thursday.

How much dummer is poor ppl worried about payen bills? 13 IQ points, says the studie.

That’s the equal event as being a drunk, or loosen a nite’s sleep. I imajun a poor person that drinks all nite an stays up worrying about the repo man taking the Xbox must be as dumm as a box of rocks.

Have a nice weekind. I don’t get paid til necks Friday so I will be sitting at the house hoping they don’t turn off the power.

Here more news I got 4U too reed:

I do not agree that being poor does indeed make one stupid.

Barack & Moochelle were quite wealthy BEFORE they even got to Washington, and those two are on the intellectual level of a box of doughnuts (or fellow millionaire George W. Bush.).

Of course, there are indeed exceptions to every so-called rule…

George when reading today’s article one could easily say that “U” are in good company and quite comfortable with the results of this study. Please! Tell the readers of the mental anguish caused by not being able to put food on the table everyday, pay the monthly Light and gas Bill. Along with not having enough money for bus fare to get to and from work and lets not forget ZERO to eat for Lunch. Lets not forget when your child gets sick and healthcare is unavailble.

Wow Corey, I’m guessing you did’nt like America’s choice for President? Let me tell you how I know. Instead of saying that you disagree with some of President Obama’s policies and views, you said and I quote, “those two are on the intellectual level of a box of doughnuts” So, let me get this straight, President Obama who graduated with a J.D. (magna cum laude) from Harvard Law School, became a Senator and later President of the United States is dumb as a box of doughnuts? Really? He not only won a in 08′, but he was then re-elected in 12′….Great Scott!! Just let it go man, for the children…..just let it go!! LOL

If being poor does, in fact, make one stupid, what does this tell us about the pay scale at The AJC and why so many articles and blog entries written by its employees have such an inordinate amount of elementary-school-level grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors that even most Clayton County schoolchildren wouldn’t make?

I can purty much see a poor-makes-u-stupider parallel in an event that was reported in the ajc just yestaday. Fast food restyourant weerkers making $7.50 (the ‘poor’ aspect) wer demonstratin for an increese to $15 an hour (the ’stupid’, inasmuch as anyone with a brane nos the restaurant would close down be4 that evr hapens).

My sister is not poor but she sure is dumb. I think taking away her money couldn’t make her any dumber. Corey, well stated. jay, get a life.

If poor people would stop having babies until they can afford them, they wouldn’t be poor any longer.

It is crazy to assume, like a Texas Fox, that finding what’s obvious makes people any happier or angrier. I would state the 2nd.

Jack. What about when a couple has plenty of money, live in a nice 3/2, two cars, everything good, have four children ages 4 through 14, then Wham! No job for father; mother gets sick. Now the well-to-do family is poor; lost the home and cars; forced to move into a trailer park in west Cobb, all this inside a year. The oldest child, a bright girl, has fallen into severe depression and refuses to speak; two of her younger brothers have been brought home by the police twice in two months; the youngest, also a girl, now has severe crying attacks.

The fact is Jack that poverty is random, if you understand random. Also, race taints your comment.

Hogwash. If you have an IQ of 85, you’re not going to college, you probably cannot comprehend the more technical requirements to become a HVAC technician, electrician, or other higher paying crafts. You’re life will probably be a series of low paying, low skill jobs.

In years past, the low skill worker was able to go to a textile mill or other factory and make a decent living. Now that most of those jobs have gone overseas, there’s not much left for the low skilled American worker. Now add to that equation the tens of millions of additional low skilled, third world illegal immigrants our government has allowed into this country and the results are devastating.

But never fear, Uncle Sam will pay you not to work. He will give you EBT cards, Section 8 housing, free healthcare, free education for your brood, and even pay for you to have more kids which will entitle you to even more benefits.

Me, I’ve got to work to 2pm just to meet the tax burden to pay for it all. I guess I’m the stupid one for working, eh?

George, If what you say is true, then Jesus must have been really STUPID to sacrifice his Life for the Likes of you!

Being poor does not make you stupid. Most people who are poor already have a low IQ or no desire to better themselves. I would think that being stupid is more a reason for being poor.

Deuteronomy 15:11
There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites (Countrymen) who are poor and needy in your land.

So sorry to hear about your family. The vast majority of families in your former lifestyle have planned (financially) for that kind of catastrophe. Living the high life without health insurance is what gets people into trouble. Then the domino effect kicks in when the breadwinner loses his job. The wife is going to get sick with all that stress she is under. Bad choices are when you have a nice home and cars in lieu of health insurance. Poverty was in evitable in your case. Poor choices are a sign of stupidity which will ultimately lead to being poor.

Being poor makes you stupid in the same way that having green grass causes drowning deaths. Ever notice how many more drowning deaths there are when the grass is green? Oh, sure, it could be because grass is green in the summer and that is when people are in the water, but we wouldn’t want to let logic get in the way of a fun narrative.

Why is it that so many of Us get so much pleasure out of making FUN and ridicule of the less fortunate among US. The story above is more of a refelection of the LOW Character of the writer than those who are being ridiculed and made fun of.

Well, if that was true, the people (and their children) who win the lottery would be smarter, hum?

Once again, we have researchers who don’t understand “The Scientific Method” doing, so called, research. Once again, correlation don’t not imply causation. At one time, we believed that a positive self-image would improve student’s education because we saw what a good self-image our brightest students had. We then decided to test that idea by making sure we didn’t fail anyone and socially promoted everyone. How did that work out, hum?

Using Occam’s razor, it’s far more likely that dumb people make dumb mistakes because they don’t know they’re dumb.

Fact, most poor people voted for Obama thinking he would somehow make then better off financially well, they are still waiting which makes them stupid for ever thinking that in the first place however Obama sure is better off, he and his family will be living the good live from here on while the poor who voted for him will still be waiting with their hand out.

Well… Let me see… Who is more stupid? The poor who live off of government handouts? Or those of us that year after year pay the taxes for those handouts?

After my last tax bill, I would say that we, the financially better off people, are the stupid ones…

GaDawg… how is that a “fact”? Just because you preface your statement by claiming it’s a fact, doesn’t make it a fact.
