Housing authority’s ban of U.S. flag overturned

Communists running Wrentham, Mass., public housing were struck a blow Thursday when the state overruled a decision to ban the U.S. flag.

Residents of Garden Lane Apartments were told they got a little too patriotic July 4th and a letter taped to each door July 11 told them the U.S. flag could only be displayed indoors.

The Wrentham Times has a series of articles explaining the series of events.

State Rep. Dan Winslow began looking into it and called Gov. Deval Patrick, who quickly moved to strike down the ban.

“We were not aware of this decision when it was made, and it was a mistake that is being corrected immediately,” the governor said.

Wilson was a little more fired up.

“I am outraged that tax dollars are paying the salary of state employees who do not instantly recognize the idiocy of such a decision. They should be invited to find jobs in the private sector and unemployed veterans hired in their place,” he said.

Good idea, but I bet dollars to almost free doughnuts that that won’t happen.

I agree that the decision to ban flying the American flag was beyond ignorant; however, this has nothing to do with Communism.

Maybe Dobson is right that it has more to do with Obamaism than communism.

Ummm @Jimbo are you kidding me? The country hasn’t been ours since the contitution was written way before Obama, and it will never be given back to us…what I do want is my money and Obama is the closest we can get to it.

But what if our flag offends a communist, we should apologize.
If they need health care, you should pay for theirs too (after all you work they only make babies and collect unemployment, get govt housing, EBT, and $1200 a month per child, play on their iphones and watch big flat panel tvs etc… while you get to work). Lucky you!!!
Finally, since all these things are needed to be provided by the hard working capitalists I hate so much, we should go from a country of opportunity with hard work, good decision making and education, to a country of equal results ONLY. You know, make everyone miserable and hopeless. Thats what I’ll be doing if you give me four more……

Follow the link to the July 11 letter. The housing authority apparently didn’t initiate this bonehead move on their own, they were responding to “repeated complaints” from a tenant. Still, caving in and ordering the removal of the flags was weak and unpatriotic.

I am going to pose this question for the anti-Obama people. What is the one thing that you dislike the most that President Obama has done since he has been in office? Now intelligently back that up with FACTS, not something you heard someone else say.

And this is different than the Obama-sheeple still blaming Bush for everything that has ever gone wrong in their lives 3 years after he left office??? Bush didn’t sign NAFTA, which caused a HUGE amount of our current economic woes. Bush didn’t gut the Fair Labor Standards Act, effectively rendering it’s clauses unenforcable. Your ‘ol buddy Bill Clinton did those things — which DIRECTLY lead to much of what the leftists are now whining about. Pot, meet Kettle!!!!

@230gr Full Metal Jacket, they were idiots too. Anybody who forms opinions not based in fact or based off something they heard from someone who heard from someone else, is ignorant. I totally agree with you about Bill Clinton. George H.W. Bush is responsible for Clinton presiding over the budget surplus while he was in office. The only thing I ever had a problem with George W. Bush was the Iraq war. I look at facts and form my opinion and don’t let the talking heads tell me how to think.

Here is your answer, Really??

@Really? What I hate most about Obama is he insist on taxing those that create jobs. These figures are from the CBO(congressional budget office). The top 20% of income earners pay 70% of all income taxes. While the bottom 20% pay 3 tenths of 1% of all income taxes. Almost 50% of people in this country pay no income tax. Do You agree the top income earners need to pay more? If you do, you seriously need help. Punish the evil rich for working hard and being the best they can be. Why should I pay more because I want to work hard and leave my children and grand children a nice inheritance. How much is too much. 51 percent of everything I make goes to pay for all the taxes I have to pay. I’m tired of my hard Earned money going to a thief, parasite or whatever adjective I can use to describe people that are lazy and doesn’t know the word know and spreads her legs for any man that ask and downloads another tax burden for me. You wanted proof that he’s in idiot and I gave it to you. He wants us to pay my fair share. I think we are. 70% of all income taxes is paid by the top earners is pretty fair to me. I am sure you disagree. But until those nearly 50% that don’t pay incoms taxes finally decide to work hard and contribute to society rater than taking from it, they need to keep their mouths shut and out of my pocket.

@Here is your answer, don’t jump to conclusions because I totally agree with you and I appreciate you intelligently backing it up. I am working to move into a higher tax bracket and I don’t want to taxed more to help people that want to sit on their butts and collect a check.

The reason I posed this question is that I am tired of people blaming one person for the ills of the USA, including George W Bush. To get to where we are, it takes years and multiple people. Hell, the housing/banking crash can be traced back to the Reagan era and deregulation.

Here is your answer, Really??

July 12th, 2012

I agree with deregulation under that administration was the beginning. But the Clinton administration started the tumble when he Passed the the Commodity Futures Modernization Act, which exempted credit default swaps from Regualtion and then he passed the community reinvestment act which loosed credit restriction on buyers. The past is the past and we all need to look towards a brite future. I can say this. Should Obama win reelection I will be leaving the country and working for an office in Australia.

You really want to trace the welfare state back to its roots? Lyndon Baines Johnson was within 24 hours of being indicted for corrruption when JFK was assassinated. LBJ took over the reins of government and to redirect the thinking of Americans the new president pushed for adoption of the Great Society, the first big step toward the socialist welfare state.

Really,,,, How about the Cash for Clunkers that cost the tax payers $25,000 per car that got destroyed. How about the mechanics that couldn’t work on those cars or the parts suppliers that supplied parts for those cars. What about the money those people would have saved and spent in the economy, all for saving the car companies. Obama likes to pick and choose which businesses and industries he wants to save instead of letting the american people choose which to save and spend their own money.
