Learning to ignore bad children and parenting is a painful but worthwhile endeavor, though it retards the advancement of civilization.
Despite my zen, I’m not sure I could have turned the other cheek if I’d observed junior high students tossing garbage into the reflecting pool at the September 11 Memorial in New York City.
Fox News reports one of the kids was detained by police for having bullets in his pockets.
“These kids just need to be educated about what happened there,” said New Yorker Anthoula Kastinatides, whose brother died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The kids were on a summer field trip with a Brooklyn public school. New York’s school chancellor said the students who threw garbage into the memorial, which opened Sept. 11, 2011, in Lower Manhattan, may be punished. The kid that had ammunition faces a police investigation.
And who knows, maybe a parent will get involved?

This is totally a disrespectful act, but to blame it on the public school system, come on down. What these young people need to do is spend time with those children who lost a family member in the attack.

@JRHD…what a great idea. @ Booze Hound…Why in the hell don’t you either jump off a cliff that leads to a mile long razor blade into a pool of alcohol; better yet, leave the USA so we can breathe better air.

reading everyone’s posts made me dumber, and I’m pretty stupid. If you have an Obama sticker and get flicked off or a Romney sticker and get called a racist redneck, what’s the difference? Urinal, I like your style dude!! As far as the kids go, they are morons. But that isn’t saying much. Most people are morons. Look at Obama supporters and Romney supporters. They are hilarious and both groups are such open minded people. Now I’m going to Alabama to buy fireworks which are illegal to buy in this state. What’s next, no beer on Sunday. Ron Paul 2012. Now let’s get back to some more heated intellectual political debates. It’s so fun when people get mad at people they can’t see

If you punish the children, the parents will just defend their children’s actions (oh, they’re just kids or they didn’t know, etc). But if you charge the parents $ for having to clean up their children’s mess, then they will get mad and discipline their kids. It’s not doing the right thing that motivates most people, it’s money. Hit the kids and the parents in the pocketbook. That will make a lasting impression.

- is it any wonder or surprise when we witness the malfeasance of today’s entitled generation- the “spare my self esteem” generation who believes everthing should be delivered on a platter? This is the spawn of all those who parented using that psychobabble advice. Spare the rod- spoil the child- true yesterday as well as today.

I am really surprised any body has any respect for property in New York. If you have never been, then you should take a trip. Enjoy the graffiti and the stripped down automobiles that sit off to the side of the road. Nobody has any respect for any thing up there.
