Kids throw garbage in Sept. 11 memorial pool

Learning to ignore bad children and parenting is a painful but worthwhile endeavor, though it retards the advancement of civilization.

Despite my zen, I’m not sure I could have turned the other cheek if I’d observed junior high students tossing garbage into the reflecting pool at the September 11 Memorial in New York City.

Fox News reports one of the kids was detained by police for having bullets in his pockets.

“These kids just need to be educated about what happened there,” said New Yorker Anthoula Kastinatides, whose brother died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The kids were on a summer field trip with a Brooklyn public school. New York’s school chancellor said the students who threw garbage into the memorial, which opened Sept. 11, 2011, in Lower Manhattan, may be punished. The kid that had ammunition faces a police investigation.

And who knows, maybe a parent will get involved?

No politics, please. This is just a case of kids behaving badly. Hopefully they will be strongly reprimanded for their heinous actions.

Also, regarding sending them to Parris Island for some discipline—-I think every kid, male or female,
needs to spend 2 years in the service. Gives them structure, discipline and also a chance to decide
what to do with their lives.

Well I see adults open their window throw out a cigarette butt, or dump their ashtray in a parking lot.

Folks don’t care and cigarette smokers are the worst of all.

This simply relates to the parents or lack of. This is the sad part of a generation growing up with no respect for anyone and life. Just like the middle schoolers that demeaned and vilifyed the 70yr old bus moniter. Most kids that have parents that are involved don’t have these problems. We have become so politically correct that parents and schools cannot discilpine children, so we have want we have.

They are misunderstood! They probably came from low-income housing, single parents, no father figure and don’t have the tools to behave in society. I think we need to all pitch in and really help rehabilitate them. Punishment only teaches them to lash out and repeat the cycle of violence again. We can’t fault them for over 200 years of oppression! Come on, people. Have some sympathy!

This is the result of a society that has taught this generation of kids that respecting our country is a thing of the past. I am surprised that the parents didn’t sue the school system for not properly supervising the kids properly. I will not be shocked at all if the parents attack the school system if the kids do get a punishment.
