The death of a pet can really take the wind out of your sails.
For Dutch artist Bart Jansen, the death of his beloved cat was no different.
Seeking a dignified means of honoring his pet, Orville, named after the elder Wright brother, Jansen decided to have him stuffed and miniature helicopter rotors inserted into his outstretched paws.
He calls the flying, remote controlled art piece the “Orvillecopter,” reports the Daily Mail.
Daily flights of fancy feast are on display at an art show in Amsterdam.
“After a period of mourning he received his propellers posthumously,” said Jansen.
In a related story, domesticated Dutch animals are accepting donations in hopes of inserting a Soyuz rocket into the posterior of an alleged artist.

In all seriousness, who cares? Not like he sped along the process of turning his cat into a helicopter. Excellent use of resources I’d say. Better than a stupid mantle piece…or new rose garden.

I don’t care much for cats, but this isn’t funny, it’s sick. The editors at the AJC need to do some soul searching. I’ve seen too much cruelty to animals for one to be mocked like this.

Agree with Catmandu!! I find people’s outrage over this comical. I find it bizarre. But still..it’s a DEAD cat, people. It’s not like he hurt the animal while doing this. So I think calling him a jacka$$ over it is a bit extreme. Yes, he’s not being respectful of his dead cat but like the guy above me commented..who cares??

‘Unfortunately, I can only use Associated Press pictures and this was covered by Reuters.’
poor George, you couldn’t use the real disturbing images to make your dumb joke even better?
no one is buying that you find this ‘offense as well’.
Really?!?!

I have no love for cats at all, but for the AJC to “report” this, and to display a picture, is an aberration.

Up here in the foothills of Appalachia, if you don’t get the dead cat out of the road in time, they become ’sail kitties.’ On days when the asphalt is too hot to walk to Wal-Mart, a ’sail kitty’ is just as good as a Frisbee.
Of course there is a more than adequate supply of ’sail possums’ up here in Talking Rock.
