Wild hog hunter shoots girlfriend

Even vice presidents accidentally shoot people, but a wild hog hunter in Florida had some ’splaining to do after blasting his girlfriend.
The Orlando Sentinel reports Steven Egan, 52, was hog hunting in Flagler County (north of Daytona Beach) with his girlfriend, Lisa Simmons, also 52, when he shot her through both thighs with a .30 caliber rifle.
The happy couple was hunting “from a tent” at a park on County Road 305, which sounds like as good a place as any to shoot a wild hog, except maybe for Berrien County (Ga.), home of the late Hogzilla.
Egan told police he heard a noise in the woods and fired, not realizing the noise was coming from Simmons.
No charges have been filed in the incident, and Simmons is recovering in a local hospital.
I’m not sure how you can win back the love of a woman you’ve shot after mistaking her for a wild hog, but I hope she gives him a shot.

Abso-damn-lutely! There should be some sort of charge against an idiot that shoots at things he can’t see and clearly identify.
And what’s the idea of suggesting that Hogzilla was converted to bacon. The hunter that shot that hog buried it. It had been in the ground for some time before it was dug up, per the photo.

make sure you know what your going to shoot before you fire the gun and make sure where the bullit is going after that only fools shoot at sound and should not even have a gun in his are her hands think about it and you will see that i am right so put up the guns and go to a course again because you didnt think ppl like this is why we have to fight for are rights

Mr. Mathis should stick to the facts instead of trying to be funny. This woman is my niece. She does not look like hog!! This was a tragic accident. She almost bled to death and she may still lose her leg. In any case she has months if not years of recovery ahead of her. Her boyfriend made a mistake, it was dark, and he is devastated. You all owe them an apology!!
