‘Rate My Rat’ website outs NYC subway vermin
Not to sound like John Rocker, but I’ve met some real rats on the subway.

In New York City, the problem with the four-legged variety of vermin is so bad transportation workers have created a website to draw attention to the infestation.
The “Rate My Rat” website allows rider to submit pictures of “nasty” rats for a chance to win a free monthly pass. My favorite is a cute little fellow sipping on a can of beer like an addled Mets fan.
Unfortunately, NYC subway riders aren’t exactly Marlin Perkins. Recently a train was evacuated when the first ‘possum ever spotted using public transportation caused a panic, and one submitted pic depicts someone’s rotund pet.
The workers union alleges budgetary “cutbacks mean rats are back,” so the website may be designed to restore jobs instead of reducing rats, but the tactic is interesting. Maybe MARTA could fire up a similar site to rat out the most obnoxious panhandlers?

See the rat in the picture drinking the beer? This is what Cobb County’s Director of Community Development was thinking when he created the idea that “craft beers” should soon be allowed to be offered at “wine tastings” around Cobb County – OH – and… “low class” businesses like convenience stores and greengrocers will be specifically prohibited from offering ANY free alcohol for customers to taste.
Public hearing on the issue was Jan. 24 – saw it on the Cobb County Gov’t channel – Join us on Feb 28 if you like cheap beer and want to see it handed out for FREE at local businesses

On Marta’s own website, you can see that there were over 400 crimes in one year on Marta – mostly on the subway. One homicide, one rape, 67 aggravated assaults, 218 larcenies etc….. http://www.itsmarta.com/crime-comparison.aspx I can report that in my truck there were zero crimes during that same time period.
