‘Dogs love marijuana’ says non-local vet

For decades I have lived under the assumption that Scooby-Doo served merely as a warning to pets everywhere.

Turns out, the beloved lover of potentially illicit Scooby Snacks is rather typical of his species.

Dogs love marijuana, says non-local vet Jennifer Schoedler. “I’ve seen them eat the buds, plants, joints and marijuana in food.”

Schoedler made the surprise announcement in a Durango (Colorado) Herald article entitled “Vets see more dogs snarfing humans’ medical pot.”

Durango vets say easier-to-come-by weed is “poisoning” man’s best friend.

“We used to see maybe one case a year,” said veterinarian Stacee Santi. “Now we’re seeing a couple a month.”

Marijuana, like chocolate and coffee, is bad for dogs, said Schoedler, and “stoned” pets may require hospitalization.

In Georgia, of course, we won’t have to worry about our pets “snarfing” our plant-based meds and getting sick — marijuana, in all its myriad forms, is illegal here. We also don’t have to worry about the government planting microchips in our brains. Our Legislature, which will soon convene again, is taking care of us.

blowing pot smoke at your animals can be dangerous. they are smaller in mass and weight, and marijuana increases the heart rate – possibly to fatal levels – in animals. their systems are far more delicate than ours. don’t blow any smoke at your pets, OR your children. Why would you want to jeopardize their well-being? Not really funny
But yea George, the article is poorly written, the opening reads like a stage-coach ride out of control at full speed. And the ending reads like the same stage coach ride that has crashed and dumped it’s passengers. I didn’t find it humorous. And the hidden issue here could be if a pet can get access to pot, then too so can a child

Funny article. I know some chihuahuas and jack russells that could use a little chill action. LOL.

Stoned pets require hospitalization? Cmon, Man! Puhleeze. More like Vets require excessively expensive procedures for symptoms that will self-resolve.

Thanks for the responsible headline, AJC. I can’t wait to hear about all the idiots who will be trying to get their dogs high. I hope they can’t read.
