Church tweets protest of Steve Jobs funeral via iPhone

After the death of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, the #iSad hashtag is trending on Twitter.twitter-phelps

Westboro Baptist Church, a group that has forsaken human decency in the name of headlines, announced Wednesday night, in a tweet sent via #iPhone, a planned protest of the iPhone creator’s funeral.

Perhaps an #iRony hashtag would be appropriate?

Why protest Jobs?

Religious leader Margie J. Phelps, in responding to an Associated Press headline on Twitter concerning Jobs’ death, said the group would picket the funeral because Jobs had “a huge platform; gave God no glory and taught sin.”

Phelps, a lawyer and daughter of Westboro’s founder, Fred Phelps Sr., argued successfully before the Supreme Court that the thankfully tiny church had the First Amendment right to stage anti-gay and anti-war protests at the funerals of celebrities and U.S. soldiers.

Westboro’s leaders have been here before. In 2010 the group picketed Twitter’s offices in San Francisco. They tweeted about it, of course.

These people (Margie Phelps & their Westboro Baptist “Church”) think trash, talk trash, are nothing but trash.
Media coverage just empowers them unnecessarily. Best thing to do is simply ignore them, they are not worth an iota of attention. Sure, they are HIP (Hypocrites, Idiots, Perverts).

Just how is creating tech devices, teaching sin exactly? Makes no sense besides the man was a Buddhist, he wasn’t christian anyway. These Phelps & Westboro folks better have flame retardant suits because they will need them when they die.

The only thing I found more sickening and appalling regarding The Westboro Baptist
Hate Cult’s plans to pickets Steve Job’s funeral…was Mr. Mathis’s referral of Margie Phelps as a “religious leader” in this news article! This sick woman and her entire church/cult are scary, evil hatemongers who delight in the misery of others and thrive on the kind of publicity that he and other media sources give them!

Glad I am Methodist–this group tars all of us with a big brush. God love everyone–so much, that he gave HIS son to die in our place.

Religion will be the cause of the end of times. religious cooks. how do you seriously hate gay marriage yet let your children get raped by your religious leaders. you’ve failed to predict the end of times multiple times, shocker, and deny science? can’t wait to sip champagne when i die and laugh at all your religious freaks burning in hell for your lack of acceptance to others views and beliefs.
