Obama’s likeness used to sell fried chicken in China
While President Barack Obama seeks the secret recipe for U.S. economic growth, a fast-food restaurant in China is inferring he’s already privy to Colonel Sanders’ secret for fried chicken.
The short arm of trademark law.
The Daily Mail and other media outlets report Obama Fried Chicken is using advertising very similar to that used by KFC, aka known as Kentucky Fried Chicken before the word “fried” became a marketing pariah.
The Beijing business sign allegedly contains the phrase ‘We’re so cool, aren’t we?’ in Chinese, but Google translate cannot confirm that for me.
The restaurant’s name may be a way for restaurateurs to decry a tariff on U.S. chicken exports that, according to the New York Times, forces importers in China to pay twice as much per bird.
The restaurant’s sign was first spotted by TheShanghaiist.com.
Mediaite.com writes that using Obama’s likeness to sell fried chicken could be considered “unacceptably racist,” but this isn’t the first time such a thing has happened.
The Daily Mail article has pictures of U.S. businesses using the exact same name in Brooklyn and Harlem.
And KFC itself used an Obama lookalike in a television commercial that ran in Hong Kong. In that clip, KFC even borrows a sentiment from Obama’s 2008 campain … “Change is good.”

I was born in korea and adopted in 1975 by american/ catholic irish/ white parents. Note the order in which i list it. There are too many Americans who DO NOT view themselves as ‘Americans’, and not all of it sprouts from hatred, but, perhaps b/c they are sometimes reminded they are different than the norm, and this, in return, causes emotions of dislike. Also, sorry to say this, some are stupid and ignorant as well. Yes, some ‘blacks’ are racist, but many of your ancestors (Caucasian folks) taught them to be this way. Lets not forget history.

I agree with you. If people would simply lose the hyphen and be Americans, we could all probably begin to act like one group of people, rather than groups who self-segregate themselves. I could call myself an Irish-European-Native American-American but I was born here, so I am simply an American.
Enough with the protected ‘classes’ of people. Our constitution guarantees equal opportunity, not equal outcome. Your success or failure in this country is completely on you, and anyone who works hard to succeed will. Anyone who can’t be bothered to work hard votes Democrat.

I love how black people are the “new racists.” Meanwhile, we have Rick Perry whose camp is called “(N word) head”. We have a fraud on the immigration board who wants to preserve the white race. We had people who doubted the birthplace of the President, because of course, a black man with a funny name couldn’t actually be a legitimate presidential candidate. We had Democrat Robert Byrd, a klansman, who was a West Virgina politican FOR YEARS until his death.
Look, 99% of my dealings with people of all races has been favorable here in Georgia. But to suggest that somehow black people perpetuate racism is laughable at best, and asinine at worst.

I hate to break it to you but blacks aren’t ‘new’ racists. Racists exist in every single group and community and color and nationality. I’ve heard how latinos talk about blacks and how blacks talk about latinos and asians and whites – every single group is guilty of racism. My point is that the only people who stoke the flames of racism are those who financially benefit from it, or who use it to get special treatment because they are an ‘oppressed’ group. Anyone who disagrees with Obama is labeled a racist, but has it ever occurred to you that perhaps some of us disagree with his POLICIES and not his race? He is half my own race after all, a fact that many conveniently overlook. I don’t care what color he is. His policies are destroying the country I love and because of that I can’t stand him and can’t wait to see him get voted out next year. I love Herman Cain because his color has nothing to do with who he is and what he’s about. He’s a smart, educated man with EXPERIENCE in the private sector, and a deep love for America and what can be accomplished here by anyone who is willing to work for it.
